I really do not believe that. Men just make this as an excuse for them to cheat on their wife or girlfriend. Don't you women agree?

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. For me it is definitely a myth that men were born to be polygamous. It's like saying that men love to cheat on their wife.

What I believe about this is that a lot of men would LIKE us to believe this is true. They think it gives them an excuse to cheat. I don't believe they are born any diferently than women, when it comes to this. Maybe women just understand love and commitment better than most men and they dont look around for excuses to be promiscuous.

This may be true for you and for others but I know a lot of very powerful women who think the opposite. They have a lot of male subordinates who does their bidding. Men and women are equals in my eyes, it is actually the individual that can make himself or herself rise above the rest.

yes, and i think not just men but also women.. we are not program to be monogamous. i think human being is not realy that satisfied in what they have now and we still keep in searching for something that we wnat. being monogamous is not a matter of being a huma, i think its a matter of choice. if one choose to be loyal to his current partner then he or she should not seek for anothr one.

If it is so, I don't really know. But, there are some men who do act that way and it makes me wonder sometimes.

Some men do act this way and justifies it with myths like this so that people would excuse them for the things they do.

I have heard that nature is such that the male species is polygamous. You can see this clearly in animals, where one male has a herd of females. If women practice polyandry there is no benefit to them from this. But men can produce 1000 children by being with 1000 women.

no. i gues these are just reason barely made by polygamous guys. when God created the human race he gave adam just a single eve. meaning its not innate in guys to be polygamous. right?

I also do believe that. God wanted us to love only their wife or husband and not love every beautiful girl or handsome man in the world.

Please stop starting new discussions with "DO YOU" or "ARE YOU" just for making the others to answer to your discussions.
That attitude is spamming not discussing about a real topic.
I don't think you really care what the others think about a topic or another.

Actually if you read the guidelines, discussions are supposed to be made as questions first then expounded by the respondents. It is all about making a stand on the topic of discussion. This is from one of your posts:

I think in the past it was a needed to have more than 1 wife. In ancient times a man might marry one wife, they have a child, and nurse probably for 5y ears. In some cultures you aren't intimate with women while the are pregnant or nursing. After about five years the child would die and they would have to start all over again. So he needed more than one wife. They were probably growing there own food so you would neded lots of children as well. So I think it was more of survival. After awhile it was more about status. I got 10 wives and fifty children, 100 grandchildren, 1000 goats and so on.

It's possible that men are polygamous as a survival technique from ancient times. To keep the species alive they may have the desire to spread their 'seed' as widely as possible, so that some of them may survive.
In women, since they are the ones who give birth, their natural instincts may be more oriented toward nurturing the child than to finding additional partners. But it may well be that being polygamous is in their interest too, after the child is born. Maybe having children by multiple men would increase the chances that some children will survive.

I believe it is a myth because it ignore the fact that Women are not naturally monogaous either. Saying MEN are born polygamous sounds like and exuse to add...and women are not. Guys don't have any special rights to choose mulitple partners. Human beings, in gereal, are not natrually monogamous.

I think it's a myth or an impractical norm believed by society to justify the male beings (i mean that of the human species) to be allowed several partners. This is possibly due to the reasoning that it is okay for men to have multiple partners coz he is not the one getting pregnant and in the end become subject of ridicule.
I am man and i ain't polygamous..(or maybe not yet...lol!)

i dont think so. when adam was created he had only eve as his partner. he was not polygamous. i think men are not born with a polygamous character at all. polygamy is a choice men and women alike can choose. it is not inherent in humanity, not a human nature.
