I found one more awesome way to make some money without the internet. I think Im going to call it 30 minute meals or something like that. I am going to spend one day a week making up meals, such as casseroles, soups, and then just noodles, hamburger and etc. Then Im going to separate it and freeze it. I think then I am going to put together a recipe book of all of the casseroles and etc that I use. That way, busy moms or busy families dont have to spend so much time every night preparing, and cooking and cleaning up. You just simply take it out of the freezer, warm it, and eat! Do you think this is a good idea, or are there too many store bought convenience foods already?

Before you begin and invest a lot of money in this idea, please check the state and local laws concerning the sales of food items. Every establishment that sells prepared foods, even the ones you reheat have to meet guidelines to insure the public health.
Such things as stainless steel sinks, counters, no wooden chopping blocks etc are manditory in most states.
You may have to have a food license so please consult your local health agency about this before you begin.

Absolutely right, going into catering is a major undertaking and you will need loads of insurance and stuff to get it going.

30 minute meals is already copyrighted by Rachel Ray. Good idea, but think of another name.

I think this is a good idea. If you make meals that are more nutritious than the store bought ones then you hsould be okay.
You many also want to target people who have a hard time shopping and cooking like the elderly or handicaped.
I would totally pay for such a service if the meals were nutritious. It would be an easy way to add more variety to my life.
I don't enjoy cooking very much but I have a daughter and I try hard to give her good meals but I know I am lacking in that area.
So if the prices were right and the variety was there I would gladly become a customer.

I'm glad you found a way to stay at home with your daughter and still make some extra money. I just wish you lived closer to me, it could be a full time job doing the laundry for my family lol.
I hope you can keep doing this and maybe find some other ways also. The gift basket idea is great also but of course that is only seasonal. You could do that one for Mothers day, Valentines day etc.
Hope you and your little one are enjoying Christmas.

That is a very good idea. In fact allot of local grocery chains are doing the same thing. A friend of mine wanted to purchase a franchise that does just that. They prepare individual dishes, side dishes and deserts. Then the customer can mix and match. There is allot of choice and even though they are frozen dinners, they are still quite fresh and good. I hope you have success.

I beleive there are already plenty of such options available in the market. However, you can definitely try on a scale suiting your capital size, and try to price it well to get some market. Also, the hygene factor need to be very clearly convincing to potential customers and beleiv em ethis is difficult, but no doubt is worth a try.

I thought you were actually going to prepare the meals not write a recipe book. That would definetely be easier for you to do because you wont have to check food guidlines and buy food and all that but I like the preparing idea better still. I've heard of a place like that and I cant remember the name of it but I thought back then it was a great idea. There are tons of recipe books out there specifically about meals that dont take long. I think you outta go with the one that is more unique and has less competition. Either way good luck.

Baby, you got what it takes! :) That is an excellent idea!
Be sure to sit down and write out the details so that you get your focus on how to maximize your efforts.
There is a huge demand for this type of service and the is always room for one more entrepreneur.
Before you get started be sure to survey your neighbors and friends with to get a glimpse of what your possible customer base might be and what they might like.
Also don't be too concerned about convenience stores as competitors, you will be able to charge a little more for your home cooking because your customers will save gas money by not having to go to one.
Start visiting websites like chefs.com and recipes.com on a regular basis for ideas and inspiration!
You are on my friend's list so keep me informed about your progress.
May Blessings Abound For Thee! :)

It is a good idea, if u can get customers for whom it is difficult to cook everyday or they r just too busy to cook, like elderly, students living alone, new moms etc..u can earn good profits out of that....u shud go ahead and start this...

That's a really good idea. I am expecting a baby and before she is born I was planning on freezing a bunch of meals like that so that I won't have to worry about cooking for a while. A collection of recipes that are conducive to cooking ahead and freezing like that would be really helpful! I'd buy it from you!
