What do you do with your old cellphones?!! I still have 3 of my old ones around somewhere. I don't know what to do with them. I figured maybe they'll be new toys for my daughter when she grows up. I don't know if you're suppose to throw them away or not. I just don't want to bother with it.

Actually, one year my son's school were taking old cell phones and sending them into those company for credit. The school received money for each cell phone they received. So it was another way for them to earn money. I don't remember what the website was that took old cell phones but it is worth a try to look it up. :)

yep, I've got an old one in my glove compartment and another old one in the house...something was going wrong with it...it kept turning itself off, so I replaced it. But you just find it hard to throw them away...

I have taken my old cellphones back to Verizon for recycling instead of throwing them away. It is better to recycle them or give them back for store credit I think. I have one old one still that I can use for 911 calls only should my phone go bad but the others I took back and put in their old cellphone drop box.

I think that is the best thing to do.
It is better to donate or give them away unstead of just keeping them with no use at all! Great Job! :)

well we just keep it somewhere so that the next time, anyone need a mobile phone, we can just use the old one...currently, prepaid mobile cards are being sold at a very cheap price...so most of us in the family are carrying 2 phones..one newer version and one older version :D

when it comes time to replace their cellphones, most people don’t know what to do with the old ones,
my suggestion is recycle your old cellphones, batteries . it will re-use resources and help keep toxic chemicals out of landfills by making it easy to recycle old cellphones and batteries.

If you take them back to your cell store they will donate them to a women's shelter. The only thing I have a problem with that is when you turn them in they are old phones and they always tell me that they no longer make batteries to fit that phone; that's why I keep getting new phones. Now, if they don't make the batteries - what good are they going to do for the women they are donating them to? ~Donna

Good point! I didn't know they did that though (donate them to womens shelters). I'll have to keep that in mind.

I will just keep them in the drawer in case of emergency, to be enviromental friendly, i think it is a good idea to RECYCLE the unused mobile phone, so that you do not need to throw them away.
The cell phone companies can offer some rewards as an incentives for people to recycle their cell phones.

Around this area, the womens shelters take old cell phones and activate them for their clients. I donate mine to them all the time. I clean all my info off of them and then donate them. I figure it might help save someone.

I give my old cellphones to others who don't have them. I don't throw them because after all, I spent money to have them. And I wouldn't also keep them locked up somewhere because they might as well be given to people who would be happy with them

I know a lot of parents who give their old cell phones to their kids to play with. They don't work but boy, do the kids love them! At my local library they have a collect old cell phones and reuse them for people who can't afford them.

i have heard of some group actually collecting old celphones and they say that they will be sending it to third world countries and have them distributed there instead of dumping them to landfills as they say. i cannot really recall the name of their group but i am sure i have read some thing like it. so why not give it to them instead of your old celphones littering around your house. greetings. : )

Don't expect that to be true. Keep them and they will be collectables soon.

Most people just throw them away or try to sell them I think. You can aslo donate them to a womans sheltor. They can be used to call 911 if they have to. I don't know where or how to go about doing that but it could help save someone soemtime. Also I think the older phones get better reception then the new ones from what I've heard.
