I also am on disability. I have the same problems as well. But your town should have some sort of assistance program that will help a bit. Check into family services. It at least helps with food and medical expenses. There are also programs to help in purchasing homes for people in our situations. All this can be found out from your county offices but I have learned you must ask because they will not "offer" anything. I would not have known if someone had not told me. Also utility companies offer programs for electric etc. normally there is a budget billing plan or even an assistance plan and most phone companies offer what is called lifeline you still get the same service but for a fraction of the normal cost.

We live from paycheck to paycheck too. I got sick over the summer and spent some time in the hospital. My husband couldn't keep up with everything. Now we are behind on all our bills. The bank just took my husband's truck because we couldn't make the payments. We're lucky, we have family that help us out so we won't loose the house. Even with their help, I don't know how we'll get caught up. What makes it even worse is that my son was getting SSI, he no longer qualifies for it and they're now saying that for the first year and a half that he got it, we made too much money and he shouldn't have been getting it. They want us to pay them back over 13,000 dollars. I don't know what we're going to do.

I just do the best I can. I work a daytime job and have a couple of freelance writing jobs I do too. My husband works full time. I understand what it is like living paycheck to paycheck. It is not fun. I do not have any children, but I do understand.

Most people in this country live paycheck to paycheck. I feel bad for you being on a fixed income because of a disability. That must be very tough. At least I can supplement my income through working a part-time job. Are you able to do any type of work part-time, lets say 20 hours a week? I know that with SSI you can some times work but very minimal hours. Still that might help. Also, there may be programs out there to help you like HUD or HEAP (housing and electric/utility assistance programs). It might be worth a try. Best of luck to you.

I know what it's like to live paycheck to paycheck. It's hard to do at times but have faith and you'll come through. I'm not sure on how tight your income really is but sometimes saving a little money here and their can help for rainy days. I'm sure it's hard to save money. It was hard for us. It's still a little hard for use to save money. Good luck.

I think a lot of people here are in a similar situation, we struggle to make ends meet but have started being ultra careful with expenses like electricity, food etc, and live a very frugal (but full) lifestyle. We also just remortgaged to free up some money and make the repayments on the house more competitive, I don't know if you are ina position to revisit all your banking and see if they are giving you the best deals on things. Very careful budgeting helps, we know exactly how much is left over after paying the essential bills and we know we have to make that stretch on food etc. This site helps though, I'm brining in an average of $50 a month from it and expect that to rise with time, so it pays one bill for us at the moment.

When we lived in California it was that way for us. Cost so much to live there. We are doin a lil better in SC. I have a question. Is your boyfriend living in the house with you? If so he should be bay half utilities and stuff of that nature. If not kudos to him for helping out.

I live on SS and SSI. I understand where you're coming from. It is very difficult to live on these measly checks. I pay my bills and I'm broke until the beginning of the next month. Unless someone lives on SS and SSI they can never understand how we feel. The reason most of us manage to have a computer and the internet is because without these things we'd go insane. It gives us a way to keep busy and possibly to make some extra money.

Hi, I hear u loud and clear and u pretty much just told my story! only I have 3 kids... I just signed land contract papers for my home. I was really lucky and bumped into a lady that didnt charge me a down payment. the thing is I dont know now if I should have done this.. I am so stressed as well because I aint sure if I can keep up these bills.. my moms had to help me out so much with pretty much every single bill I got last month except for the house payment.. I feel so bad that she had to help.. usually for extra money my sons father and I go scrapping.. we pick up scrap metals ,broken appliances and old cars and stuff and take it to a scrap yard that pays us for it. we usually make pretty good money. we have a pickup truck so we just get in and drive and see what we can find. but I see some people bringing stuff in the place with anything from a minivan to a shopping cart to be able to make that extra money.. I dont know if u would be interested in anything like that but also yard sales can bring in some bucks.. there is this site called freecycle.org its completely free to sign up and it is just the best! u have to search for one in your area and join it, its a yahoo group, again everything is free.. but people give away things on there.. I have gotten furniture, stackable washer and dryer, clothing, a computer and just a bunch of stuff on there.. anyways, u could get stuff and have a small yard sale with it.. or if there are items u need go on there and check it out and post on there what u want.. if u need any help at all contact me..if u would like anymore info on where to get help I am more than willing to try and help out... Good luck and Merry Christmas!

I would research and use all my resources I could to keep my home. Maybe another family member could refinance for you or something. My husband left me few years ago and I lost my home. My brother in law says now he would have helped me refinance, I never asked. So think hard and research all avenues, don't be afraid to ask people questions. I still do live paycheck to paycheck also, which is a shame. We should pay ourselves firt when we get paid, put something away. I am trying to start this. I will pray for quidance and strength for you and your family. God Bless

I have had to live from payday to payday, at our worst I even had to go to a charity places that would give us food vouchers, which then freed up money for things like the rent ect. I also got involved with my local community where I found out other ways to get financial support. eg food banks, & employment networking. It is not what you know but who you know. we had to learn to live on the money we had, there was a lot of things we did without that others took for granted. It has taken a long time but we are finally getting back on track. good luck

I live from hand to mouth to, its very hard to depend on my partner now after being a totally independant woman with a good salary. I too got sick and claimed for a while but in my country you can only claim for a short while, then you are own your own. I am 'fit' to work is their excuse but nobody is interested in employing because I am a liability. I have tried so many work from home themes, none of them bring home the goods I need, aw well back to surfing.

I think the problem is first priority. With the money you saved for the house, you could have invested it in business perhaps. Sometimes, it requires sacrifice and patience. Sometimes we need to do away with life's pleasure like going to the movies and eating out and the likes, so that you will have enough money to live on. What is most important is that you have 2 jobs. I think you bought a house and you have problems making the payment. You should have not bought a house because monthly payments are difficult to maintain. Monthly rentals for the meantime should have sufficed in terms of your financial status to date.
