I heard this from a friend on how to avoid Junk Email. If you would like to know the company name and address to be removed from many computerized mailing lists feel free to send me a message and I will give you that address. I was not aware til the other day that you can do this but I certainly would love not having or having as much junk mail. This applies to postal mail and not spam.

I am not sure if it applies to email. I think it applies to just the regular postal mail which would be fine with me as well and not sure how long it actually takes to be removed from the mailing list. I know you can modify your email settings to have any junk email go to your junk email folder or trash bin though.

I wish this was to stop spam.. this is the biggest problem for me, bulk postal mail is not that bad and can be tolerated.

Thank you for providing those websites so we can stop unwanted junk postal mail and email. It is getting more annoying the more junk mail that we get.

This obviously applies to mail delivered via the US Postal Service, so would not be relevant to me. Nevertheless, I felt that I should respond to voice my doubts as to the effectiveness of this type of service. These lists are normally created from a combination of sources. If you purchase from a major store they will add you to their mailing list and this is obviously removable. The lists are also compiled by telesales people who will often ask if they can contact you in the future, a YES to that question will amount to giving your permission for junk mail. The same applies when you fill in a form that asks if you will accept mail from the company concerned and their associates, which is often worded as "Tick here if you do not wish to receive offers etcetera", so not ticking the box gives your written permission. I very much doubt if they will remove your name and address until you contact then directly because you have given your permission to sell your details and they have proof of it. I am not suggesting that the company you are referring to will not reduce junk mail, but I very much doubt if it will cease altogether.

The name of the company that is supposedly supposed to do this for someone is called Direct Marketing Association and they are located in NY but you are probably right that it would probably not work. It did apply to postal service mail and not junk email.

You would have to use postal mail for some things. It is pretty much impossible not to use postal mail for something.

One way of avoiding junk mail is not signning up for any websitte without real purpose becasue they just sell you emails to marketing companies. Secondly do not forward messages which alraedy had been comming through lots of emails.

Here is the link to register to have regular postal mail and email and telemarketing calls restricted or removed. It depends on what you register whether you pay or not. I think email is free but regular mail it costs a $1.

This is interesting. But you need to remember, there are some of us who use the Junk mail we get in person, and via Email for reveral Marketing, and we send that person some of our Business stuff back to them. I know it only helps add to the problem, but hey you never know what results it could end up bringing to you as well.

Thanks for giving me the Best response. I hope you have been sending them back some of their envelopes, and getting some results with some of the Business stuff you are doing.

How to Avoid Getting Junk Mail If you've taken the time to opt out of some direct junk mail lists, you may have the bug for more. If you know you don't look at the junk mail you receive, removing your name from unwanted direct mail marketing lists saves paper, your time and even helps the marketing people who send out the mailings (who would prefer more accurate listings). Here's how to reduce the amount of junk mail you receive: 1. When you subscribe to a magazine, donate to a charity or make purchases form a mail order catalog, your name and address become part of a customer list that is periodically "rented" to other unrelated companies and organizations. Next time you subscribe, buy or donate, make it clear that you do not authorize the company or charity to sell your information. 2. Direct marketers often get names and addresses straight from the phone book. Consider calling your local phone company to have your address removed from your telephone listing. 3. Many government agencies keep records of births, marriages, divorces and purchases of homes or property that are available as public information. If a direct mail company has obtained your information from these public records, the only way to remove your name from their list is to call or write to each company separately and make the request. Save time by calling your local Department of Motor Vehicles for a form that removes your name and information from their lists. Many states also give you the opportunity to opt out of state lists when you renew your driver's license! 4. Finally, next time you fill out an entry form to win a Dream Hawaiian Vacation for Two, think about what you're really doing: you're volunteering your private information to direct marketing companies! You're unlikely to win the trip, but you're guaranteed to end up with piles of new junk mail! Avoid entering these types of giveaways unless the entry forms clearly allow you to "opt-out" of future mailings.

That sounds really good. But, as much as I love to get rid of junk mails, I still love to look at them before emptying my junk folder.

Do not share your mail with not trusted websites, or you can have a mail address for that use and one for your personal use.

I think you accidently added an E onto mail. Its not possible to block all junk email because there are too many companies out there that are spamming us. Once your email is known or found, be prepare to receive junk email. I don't mine receiving junk mail because I kinda like looking at them or use them to put bones on after eatting chicken, fish, or anything with bones in it. Thanks for letting us know about this, but why do you want us to email you for the address. Why can't you tell us here?
