The Stone Henge

Stone Henge - Big Boulders arranged in a circle, nobody knows where it came from as there were no mountains nearby where the stones may have come down from.

Have you seen the Stone Henge? What do you think of it? I have seen this marvelous tourist spot and I think it used to be a sort of meeting place or perhaps a religious spot. Sorry I have not read much about its history. I'm sure it can be found on Google.

I've visited Stone Henge. From the road it looks like a small cluster of stones, but when you are among them, they tower over you (and the motorway seems very far away). I was lucky enough to visit just a week after the summer solstice. (The summer solstice is the day with the largest amount of daylight in the year, usually on June 21st in the northern hemisphere). It's impossible to visit on the actual solstice as only druids are allowed in then. But I was fortunate I visited a week later, as the day I went coincided with a full moon (which is a rare coincidence). We went at sunset, and I watched as the sun set exactly in the middle of the big double pillars that are the top of the clock. And then as it darkened, the full moon rose on the exact opposite side. It was magical. There is no doubt in my mind that Stone Henge was built as a seasonal clock, to mark the solstices. I would definitely recommend people to visit if they can.

Thanks for sharing, Snowflakes. When I went there it was mid-day so I was not able to appreciate its beauty as best as you did. It's truly a big wonder how they were put together without the modern machineries and equipment.

I have never been to the place but I have seen pictures of it in the internet. It makes you wonder how it came to be. It's just like the statues on Easter Island. I'm sure you have heard of it. It will make you ask yourself, how did it ever get there without any modern tools and machineries whatsoever? It only shows how intelligent and innovative humans can be.

Indeed it's one big wonder. When I saw it, I had an eerie feeling, something like the place is sacred.

Stonehenge is magical place. I've heard theories that early civilizations not recorded in our history actually harnessed the power of sound to manipulate matter, so that physical manipulation was never required. There are quite a broad range of theories out there. I have also heard that it was originally intended as a meeting place or place of worship. I think there is definitely a aura of power and energy surrounding this place.

Stone Henge is a fascinating place. No one actually know how those people managed to handle those enormous blocks of rock, thus Stone Henge is mostly an enigma. As for it's purpose, scientist say it was either a religious altar, or that it might have been a solar clock. But no one knows for sure. Unfortunately, i have only seen it in pictures, but i hope that one day i will be able to visit it.

stonehenge at sunset - stonehenge, a stone formation in a field and now considered a monument or scared site. people were amazing how the erected these stones.
Have not been there however I have wished to travel there and see it. Stories do abound however I prefer to think that it was religious in some manner. Amazing how the stones were set up and they had no motorized tool truck etc. Wouldn't be cool if maybe it was just a huge time piece or calander type formation.
