The craving meat is partly your mind, not just your body. You know you couldn't have it so your mind decides to make you want it.
Nuts and beans make excellant substitutions. I am not completely vegetarian, but do rely a lot on natural foods like fruit and veggies.

because they are not non-vegetarians! . the taste of meat is something that we meat eaters cannot resist. so i guess once we are non-vegetarians there's no need to revert to a pure vegetarian diet because we have to someday sneek into a kitchen and eat it secretly even if we have admitted to our family that we have changed to a vegetarian diet!

I have never tried to restrit myself to just veggies. I could understand the meat craving that we would get though. I am sure that a vegetarian knows what and how to eat to keep their protien up and stuff. Their is also stuff that you can purchase like vegetarian meat balls and other things!

I tried Dr.Ian's Fat Smasher diet and the detox part is all fruits and veggies for 9 days.I made 2.I just can't handle not having any meat at all.I'll admit I could cut down to say, once a day,but none is out of the question.I thought you were only supposed to crave sweets and such when give them up.Nope,I craved meat.Guess I still have a cavewoman somewhere inside.;-)

Try this:
Vegertarian Sloppy Joes
INGREDIENTS
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup chopped carrots
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
1 clove garlic, minced
1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes
1 1/2 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
8 kaiser rolls
DIRECTIONS
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion, celery, carrot, green pepper, and garlic: saute until tender. Stir in tomatoes, chili powder, tomato paste, vinegar, and pepper. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 10 minutes.
Stir in kidney beans, and cook an additional 5 minutes.
Cut a 1/4 inch slice off the top of each kaiser roll; set aside. Hollow out the center of each roll, leaving about 1/2 inch thick shells; reserve the inside of rolls for other uses.
Spoon bean mixture evenly into rolls and replace tops. Serve immediately

Part of being a vegetarian, I believe, is to be in harmony with yourself and environment, so it doesn't make sense to eat only vegetables. There are lots of beauty in mother nature that vegetarians can make use of, such as honey and bee pollen. Because they are very nutritious with generous supply of carbohydrate, protein, fat and micro-nutrients like Vitamin B12 and minerals required by our bodies in minute amounts.
