Do you think csi can make it without Grissom? I think he is the star of the show and I hate to see him go. Will one of the other csi shows be number 1 now?

This is what happens when people what a show for only one reason - one star. The show will do fine without Grissom - but not for long. I think that if and when Grissom does leave (they hinted at it in a previous episode this year - remember when he was reading the letter asking him to take a leave of absence to go away and do something and someone came in and he hid it?), that it will continue to thrive as long as we still support it. The other characters are strong and their chemestry is really good. I think Catherine or Warrick would be the ideal choice to fill his shoes, possibly seeing a new CSI coming in underneath the others to fill one of the lower, then possibly vacant spot on the team.

I agree with your thoughts about Catherine and Warrick. I think it is possible for CSI, which has a very devout following to survive. Look at the changes NYPD Blue went through. Throughout the series beloved characters went there new ways, yet the show continued to survive. The same holds true with the show ER. CSI can hold on if we the viewers support and watch it.

I agree. There will obviously be people like most on this discussion who will stop watching if he leaves, but it doesn't make sense. If you loved the show, it doesn't matter who is on the show (assuming it's not a total recast or anything like that). All the characters on CSI are strong, even down to the minor characters like Archie. We need to see more of Archie! I was pleasantly surprised while watching an episode of Heroes and found Archie was cast an ER doctor when Claire crashed that car trying to kill the guy that tried to rape her. Yah, I'm done now :)

Grissom is leaving? OH NO!!! when did this happen and how the heck did I miss it? Will the show survive? I cannot even imagine that it could? He has been the shows rock since the very first episode. His personality so fit that role. I guess I better play catch-up and see what the heck happened and how I missed it. I bet I thought it would have been a repeat like everything else has been this last 2 weeks during the Christmas/New Years Holidays. But thanks. I will sure be looking for a recording of it somehwere.

You haven't missed it yet. The episode comes on Next Thursday at 9PM EDT. I know I wont miss it either. According to the MSN TV guide He is leaving for a 'teaching sabbatical'. So fear not you have almost a week to prepare.

It is sad news. I couldn't believe the commercials. I don't know whom will take over as his lead in the show, but I think that the original CSI will continue to be a success. The other characters are wonderful and they have a great chemistry going, and enough of a following that I think the show will go forward and not back or be canceled. I hope anyway. I really love CSI.

People, Grissom is NOT leaving CSI!! William Peterson was in Providence, RI doing a play, so he needed time off...therefore they had Grissome do the four week teaching sabatical! Now everyone calm down! and i repeat.....liev schriber is a guest star only! grissom is not leaving the show!

Sorry, I started another discussion on this same topic. I didn't see this one, but I have new thoughts now. Someone here says he is leaving for a teaching sabbatical (the character, that is). Is it possible he will be back on the show? He, the actor, is actually an executive producer of the show. Perhaps he is just taking a break and will return. Let's hope so.

He is leaving only for a time. What a hubbabaloo really. He needs to fulfill a theatre agreement. Then he WILL BE BACK! Even on the show they said he'd only be gone for 4 weeks....

I don't think CSi can survive without Grissom. Not that the other stars aren't good, it's just that he poses as the leveler for everything. With Grissom gone, CSI Miami just might be a favored one.

From what I heard from Entertainment Tonight, Grissom will be gone for just a few episodes and will be back by mid-February. I don't think the show would be the same without him. Though he is not my favorite CSI, he brings a certain kind of humor in the show that is very subtle and very witty. I think the original is still the best and no other CSI show will top the original. I don't like the show without Grissom. He is my favorite one. Actually I like them all but he keeps it together. I am sure that one of the othe other CSI series will do much better in the ratings if Grissom is gone for good. I like Miami

I don't think that the show can last without Grissom, but he will not be gone for long. He will be back in 3 more weeks. He left the show for a little while because he is doing a movie. I'm not sure which one though. I do agree that Grissom is the show and if they ever were to get rid of him that the show would end.

Supposedly, Grissom will come back from the sabbatical later in the season, he is not gone for good (not yet, anyway).

I think CSI will probably struggle on one or two more seasons after Grissom leaves for good, but it will slip out of the top 10 in the ratings. I don't think it will be replaced by one of the CSI spin-offs though, because they are not popular enough to even break into the top-10 now, and probably wouldn't gain many nore viewers after the demise of the original CSI.

i think that grissom leaving the CSI will the show a major disaster. he's the star of the show, right? i became interested with the show because of the details it shows and because of Grissom's character. if he'd ever leave CSI, i think it'll put the show down.
