Today, children are very choosy in eating.the junk foods in the market makes it more worse.Children do not understand the need for healthy living. This is the main reason for the children and they are prone to infections very soon. The immunity is too low that they are always weak. The increasing number of various diseases is also because of the eating habit.
Awareness should be created among children, and they be made to understand the need of good food and healthy living.

There are plenty of programs making children aware of what they should eat. Not providing junk food in the home is the best way to be sure they have some relatively healthy food.
As far as immunity goes, its has less to do with what they eat and more to do with the way people are using too many anti-bacterial soaps, etc. You don't build a healthy and effective immune system if you never give it chalenges.

I think that a lot of this is the parents fault. Parents now tend to stop at McDonalds because it is faster. They don't cook a healthy breakfast. They buy cold cereal with lots of sugar in it. The parents buy chips and junk food to snack on. I always bought fruits and vegetables for snacks. We even had a garden with fresh vegetables. My kids are 18,21,23 and 25. They all still eat fruits and vegetables. They want me to move somewhere that I can have a garden again. They miss it. They don't eat much junk food. If they buy a big bag of chips they end up throwing half of it away because they get stale. They don't eat a lot of fried foods because I never fried things. We always grilled everything. I really think parents need to start eating healthy. The kids learn from them.

I think eating together as a family is a key to this so kids can see their parents eating well also and learn from that.

As my children were growing up I was very careful what I fed them. They always had plenty of milk (pasteurized and RAW from the farm also). Until they got to be 10 or so, I never gave them sweet drinks except if they were real juice. Even then, they were limited. Plenty of milk, water, fresh fruit and vegetables. Whole grains, potatoes, etc. My kids ate nearly everything I fed them and they still do in their mid teens. They are not picky and will even try exotic foods like sushi and other new textures and flavors.

i agree with u. it is not only ur problem but every mother is facting the same problem nowdays. according to me the only solution to this problem is to create a healthy food habbit from their early childhood. and it is possible only when the parents have the same habbits. our children learn what they see their parents doing. so i think we need to change our habbits first to make them learn eating healthy food. also mothers should learn how to make healthy things more tasty and tempting to attract children towards them.

Parents can instill good eating habits early on. Treats and sweets are ok, but make them available in moderation so the kids won't binge on them when outside the home. For younger kids, parents can try to make the healthy food more interesting to them. No need to tell them it's "healthy" because that word sometimes turns them off. Fun and tasting foods don't have to be junk.

something funny i would like to share with you. and maybe you will be as surprised as i was!
my boyfriend works for a survey company and last week, he was asking children (like young teenagers) what their favorite snacks were. he was also very shocked to hear them say things like 'cheese', 'apples' and 'carrots'.
he was sure a kid would say something like 'cookies' or 'candy'!
so manybe there are also some kids with a better knowledge of tasty snacks which are not bad for them...maybe so many vegetarian or health-conscious parents are a big influence on them?

Parents should invest more time in cooking and preparing food for their kids at home. Home-cooked food is much more healthy as we can control the amount of oil and salt added. Also, we should choose fresh produce instead of preparing processed food for our kids. When cooking vegetables, it's best to have a few types of different colors so we can have a well-mixed of different vitamins and nutrients. Junk food can be compromised only on special occasions.

yes you are right my friend..the new generation is not aware of the harmful effects of eating junk food.as a result of chronic intake of junk food not only thier immune system but gastrointestinal, circulatory, central nervous system is also affected.and children are falling prey to more and more diseases..

Hi,
We should make them understand the importance of good food and living. It is not that we should not allow to eat them the junk food. We have to compel them to have their proper food before eating the junk food. Once they get their stomach full with the proper food, they may not need junk food. This is what I do with my kid.

I think this is where discipline comes yea , Parents should act as a role model and teach them when they are young , not let them do what they want yea ...

i agree with you totally.the body's defences and the immunity system develop wiht the body.and naturally a good diet means that your health would also be great.and i can understand that some children would not like to eat healthy food abut would instead prefer pizza's and other junk food.i believe that it is the duty of the schools as well as parents to educate thier children that pizza's ar eall not that good for us!

children generally dont want to eat their food.
so we have to make them toeat by doing some variety of things
they also dont eat the thingfs whichthey dont like.
then we should mix that with their favorite item.inthis way we can make them to get vitamins carbohydrates,proteins,etc...
