Do you know your national flower? Can you tell me about it? My country's national flower is the Sampaguita. It is colored white and they are quite small but very fragrant. We make leis out of them to wear around the neck or put on the altar. Sometimes we put some in our clothes cabinets.

No. 13's comment has a picture. I will try to find a picture later. I'm sorry I don't have much free time nowadays as I am taking care of my grandsons having chicken pox!
Thanks for your comment.

Well in England, our national flower is the Rose. In Scotland it is the Thistle. In Wales they don't have a national flower, instead they have a vegetable, the Leek (it's something to do with a battle where they were hidden in the fields and stuck leeks in tehir helmets so that they knew at a glance who was Welsh and who was not).

The shamrock is emblem of Ireland. According to legend St Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, used it to teach the Holy Trinity. For good luck, it's usually included in the bouquet of an Irish bride, and also in the boutonniere of the groom. It is also an integral part of an old tradition called "drowning the shamrock."This takes place on St. Patrick's Day, when the shamrock that has been worn in the hat or lapel is removed and put into the last drink of the evening. A toast is proposed and then, when the toast has been honoured, the shamrock is taken from the bottom of the glass and thrown over the left shoulder.

We in the United States do not have a national flower that I know of, since we are made of 50 states we each have a state flower, bird etc. Ohio is where I am at so our state flower is Scarlet Carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus) Don't think we do a whole lot with it other that in bouquets and lapel flowers!
