I feel a person should only be called old when he feels like that and give up all his hope, when he stops working and when he starts feeling old from his heart also. My mother's grandmother still do all the things with her own hands and I cannot call her old

When you behave old you are old.
Some people are really old a lot younger than others, my inlaws are not really old and behave like they are ancient although only in their 50's. My dad and his girlfrien are both in their 60's but behave in a lot more energetic and young way.
I hope that made sense.

Hi Dragon, missed you too.
I can't imagine they'd dare, after all you might make them walk through the bush, dry them out and let the cat eat them ha-ha! Seriously tho' I can't imagine your kids could ever think of you as old, you're far too much fun. I'm sure you'll make it a fair bit longer.

Hi Rainbow, long time, no see.
Actually, you know you're getting old when your kids start treating you with respect. That's coz they can't afford the Old Age Home, and they're hoping you can make it on your own a little bit longer.

Rainbow, we seem to be in different time zones now, so we can't get it rolling nicely. That's because the Bear & I are opening another shop and I'm slaving over programming a hot cash register - no time for playing. It's now 02:09 here, and I'm a bit droopy, been going since 06:00 this (yesterday?) morning. And just to make our lives a bit more interesting, the Bear decided to take on the Pub of the local country club, so it's a bit of a double whammy.
I hope you're right about me making it a fair bit longer, coz right now I feel like roadkill. Din't you know that when kids turn 13, they know everything about everything, and parents became doddering old goofs overnight?

Each and every person can feel his / her oldness, when he / she is no longer ready to give thoughts / accept new ideas, (especially ideas generated by juniors by age).
I think others can call a person ‘old’ when many (not one or two) of them find a person in the above mentioned state of mind.
Obviously, I clearly state that it is a matter of mind. And age (in years) has got nothing to do with oldness.

i've always wondered this. Really I believe I'ts all in the mind. The reason I say that is because sometimes i feel old and sometimes i don't as for being called old. I woulnt want anyone calling me old unless they put the word school after it.

I think middle age is 45-65, retirement age is 65-75 so old age must be older than that. Now being 55 (almost 56), I reserve the right to change those figures at any time in the next 20 years.
Age is immaterial in actual fact because there are some people who are still young at 80+ and others who are 'old' when they are in their 50's. It really is how you live your life that counts and not what your calendar age is.

I think a person get old as soon as he looses hope to live anymore....old is not a matter of age its the matter of ur mental ability to fight to survive in this world

depends on the person ask that of a hip hopping 60 year old and she'll tell you maybe 80. But ask a person not high on life and your answer will be younger like 40. So it all depends on your outtake on life. Do you think your old? As granny used to say your only as old as you feel.

i don't think there's a particular age. it depends on how you view life, and how you live life.

There is no age to be called OLD as such . Everyone is young is he/she is cheerful, energetic and enthusiastic. Old is generally a word used for people who are lazy and dumb or gone really too old in terms of age .I think a normal man can be called old at the age of 70.

I think depends on our point of view.May be someone think when they reached 40 they are old some of them think 60 is old.Or even a 30 years old person can think they are old!

Its alright. No hard feelings what so ever. Good Luck. by the way, just a small thing to point out, when you answer, its easy if you "Add Comment" after you posting your first response. Then its easy for you and easy for others to track. Just a thought.

I feel you are not 100% today. You are posting responses to a discussion "at what age should one be called OLD". And first you used the words "GOOD JOKE MAN". Then another post saying " I think after 45 a man and woman also called old" and for the firs response since I was not sure which joke you are referring to, I asked you "Sorry which joke". Now you are asking me "WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT ARE YOU SAYING".
