How can I convince my neighbors to stop making noise?

My neighbors next door have become really noisy the last 2 years. They have to teenagers, and they simply seem to want their ears burst out with the volume of music. They threw a party one day and we couldn't sleep that night. We have called the police many times, but it doesn't seem to work, every now and then, one of them starts playing really loud music. We even sued them, and we won the case...they were given a fine, BUT THEY DON'T CHANGE THEIR ATTITUDE! Now, I get up everyday nervous, wondering at what time the'll start with the noise, and if I'll have to call the police again...any ideas?

That is really a difficult question but it seems that your neighbors will not stop not because they do not want to, it is simply because that noise is a part of their life. you can not change the way people like to live even if it is wrong.
accordingly, you have two choices:
1. get used to it.
2. move to another house.
I highly recommend 1, cause your new neighbors could be even worse.
It is my opinion.

There has to be an ordinance in your town, have you contacted the mayor's office. First, though, I would have a meeting with them and explain, nicely, that you don't want to stop their fun, but it's really hard on you and making life difficult. Maybe, just maybe, if you try it nicely, it will help. I wish I had a better plan for you. Some people can be just mean and nasty. Sorry for that.

You may have to get a neighborhood petition started. It may take alot of you teaming up together to get something done.It just a suggestion and I hope it will help.

Oh wow! Your neighbors are worse than mine! I asked them once, very politely, to keep the noise to a minimum. Then I left two not so nice notes on their door as they would not answer the door when I went over to confront them. I had to call the police one time after that and since then I have not had a problem. I'm glad mine shaped up when the police were brought into it. I don't know what to suggest to you except to move! It seems like your neighbors will stopat nothing to do what they want to regardless of who it bothers. If I were you I would just keep calling the police. Sooner or later they will get tired of dealing with the same house and hopefully do something about it. Good luck!
