I feel "off and wierd" lately. I have an 11 week old son and a two year old. My husband and I want atleast one more child. So, I took a pregnancy test last night. It said a positive result would appear in as little as one minute and a negative at 5 minutes. I checked at both 1 and around 7-8 minutes. At 1 minute-it looked negative -no double lines. At 7-8 minutes, there was a very very very faint double line. This morning there is still an extremely faint line. Could I have let it sit a little bit too long or does faint mean positive? I am not sure if you can get a slight double line if it sits to long? Anyone know? Thanks!

I believe a CONGRATULATIONS!! is in order for you! Anytime you get a double line - it's positive. A negative will never give you 2 lines. When I was pregnant with my daughter - I wasn't sure since I received a very dark line and a very faint line. Talked to one of the guys that I worked with at the time - his wife use to work in the lab at the clinic. She said that you will never get 2 lines (no matter how dark or faint they seem to be) if you are not pregnant. I would make your doctors appointment to confirm all this, but I would definately say that you are Pregnant!! CONGRATS!!!

If you leave the tests for too long, they can change though. You're better off taking another test just to be sure. You probably have an idea if you have any symptoms that you may have had with your other pregnancies. Good luck and congrats either way :)

I think your results were more likely a false-positive. For one, the results are NOT accurate after the testing time-frame (1-3 minutes usually). For two, you can achieve a false-positive if it's soon after giving birth... you could still have some of the pregnancy hormone that would cause the test to read positive.
My suggestion is to take another home test and make sure to check it in the time-frame given. I'm pretty sure that you will not get the same result.
Good Luck : )

I was wandering if hormones were still around. I'm crampy and have some spotting here and there a few weeks ago. I will test again soon. Thanks!

I have to agree with it more than likely being a false-positve. After only 11 weeks you still have pregnancy hormoes lurking around in your body. Best of luck to you either way but if you are not pregnant I would suggest waiting at least 18 months before becoming pregnant, it is best for mother and baby if you give your body time to heal. I had my first two children 2 years apart and my last two only 16 months apart and my recover from the last pregnancy was hard. Wishint you all the best :)

Well, my doctors office likes for you to do a home test first if you assume anything. I am not due for my yearly exam yet and our insurance is in pending status as my husband has switched to a new job. So, I am kind of stuck at this point. I just really wanted to know if the slight double line after 7-8 minutes can mean anything. Its very very faint, too.

I agree with the post above me... 11 weeks your hormones are still way out of wack.. and could give you a false positive.... I would wait a week or two and try again.. good luck

mine was the same it was very faint, so i thought everything was negative, but i stil felt sick et. so decided to do another and it turned out to be positive.
Ifit was me i would do another one. Then make an appoinment to see your gp if it's positive.
congratulations if it is positive, timing for a baby cannot always be predicted.

I think you are probably pregnant. I let a few tests sit in the garabage overnight and NEVER had a faint line the next morning. Congrats!!!

You could very well be pregnant. Just do another test and see. You might want to check in with your doctor. Good Luck!

I wouldn't trust those, I'd rather see a doctor. I think you should go and see your doctor for a good answer.

The same thing happened to me the first time I got pregnant. I think it means you're pregnant. I don't think no matter how long you let it sit around, it wont have a double line unless it means you're pregnant. But just to be on the safe side, why don't you take another one after a few days. That's what I did, and the result came back positive.

Home pregnancy test's results usually comes out in 3 minutes, maybe you let it sit too long. Try taking another test, if it's positive, go see a doctor to have a more accurate result.
Congratulations if ever you're pregnant.

i think that just reveals a false-negative result, so maybe i suggest you buy another kit then self-test for the second time. Leave it for 5minutes to the maximum and see for the results. If it leaves you unsure still, then i think it's time that you go for a checkup. It would be the most accurate way of finding out whether or not you're pregnant. Whatever the results are, i'am happy for you and will be praying for all the best.

you can have a result in 5 minutes or 10 if you want. if you see just a faint line, i cant say its positive. maybe you should try some more, maybe a week after. or if you really want to be sure, go & ask your OB.
