my mum always stressed to me that money won't buy you happiness. but am not sure if this is true. she's right in that family and friends and other 'things' in life are more important. but entertainment and hobbies are important too. making money can be a form of a hobby. at the moment i'm researching affiliate programmes and ways to set up sites for profit. as long as you don't get too greedy this can be entertaining. i think my mum's emphasis was probably something like 'don't ever let money control you'. that i can agree with. so as long as you don't take it too seriously money can be fun. what do you think?

Money can't directly buy you happiness. But it could buy you things that make you happy. If painting pictures makes you happy, money could buy your painting supplies. If learning to play a guitar makes you happy, money could buy it for you. If travel to another country to see family or friends makes you happy, then you probably need money for the trip. But put a pile of money in your hand, and you have nothing but paper with numbers on it.

sure you can get happiness when you get money. For some happiness, you can buy it. Buy a pet for happiness, buy a car for your happiness, get a vacation for your happiness. But that is many think that money can buy. Example, 25 years being together with your wife. It's pricesless. I agree when you are say "don't ever let money control you"

I think ur mum is r8. Money can't buy happiness..happiness comes from within ourself. Money is just 'supporting' our happiness.

Happiness is not a thing to be bought. It is generated from within. No, money can't buy happiness. It can only buy ways to get near it.

some people are happy when they have the newest cell phone model, for this kind of individuals, yes money can buy happiness. but when you think deeply about it, it really does not and cannot buy you that. money is very important in this world but it isnt the most important, its not everything.

its a simple answer to a simple question .
try and recall the last time you felt really proud and happy with yourself.
not the kind of happy that you go running around telling everyone about your new sony playstation.
the kind you feel when you acheive somthing of your own, like applause after giving a brilliant speech you wrote yourself, like praise u get after doing well in your exams.
these kinds of happy moments are the ones than nothing and nobody can take away from you. because its you ,yourself that has made it possible, not money! or anything of the sort.
its settled then, money cant buy happiness.

No, money merely affords you the luxury to purchase happy crap which fills your idle time with mindless activities. You are happy with the items you purchase until the novelty or newness wears off. It is family, friends and health that help to afford happiness.

i think to some extent money can buy you happiness, though it cannot buy everything but i have seen most people become happy when they get money which i do appreciate as well. and i've never met anyone who is happy because he doesn't have money.

money can't buy happiness, if you think money is the only thing that can make you happy, in the end you will be greatly dissapointed.

Money can't buy you TRUE happiness, but knowing how to make enough money to live can certainly alleviate a lot of stress.

We are all in the world of illusion, what we see around us may not be the real. Broadly, we divide the world into two 1)Physical, 2)spiritual. Whatever we see around us fall on the first catagory that is physical catagory. It does not requires any effort or speciality to know about this catagory so we tend to be influenced easily by this. But this catagory enjoys only a limited space and time. We have a very short life time say 100 year but this duration is not enough to enjoy all the earthly or this physical world due to a lot of constraints say money as this is the medium to exchange with anything physical. However, there are some people who enjoy everything and still continue to look for more, hoping that there is still more; and some are there who look for the spiritual catagory right from the begining or the previleged one at a certain stage of their life time.
Only the person who enjoy the spiritual catagory can feel the both.He who enjoy this has no limitation---eternal happiness(never ending happiness)because at this stage they are free from Desire. we, humen beings are full of sufferings and mostly these sufferings are caused by our desire. So your unhappiness is caused by your desire to "have or happen" something, or desire "not to have or happen" something but "have and happen" something else and sometime money is helpless.... So I agree with you, be satisfied with what you have with little or no! If possible have a try for something higher; thats spiritual, am I right?

NO , I dont think money can buy you happiness.
I agree that some amount of money is required to live a decent life m but too much of it ruins a persons life.
If he has all the money in the world , he is always botherd about it and he doesnt think of anything else except money. Due to his negligence , his entire family has baad influence.Ofcourse we all want a bit of money dont we? But money should not be the reason why we are on planet earth!
