Have you ever heard of the Gaining Goddess?

Few people no who she is. I didn't even no until I saw a show yesterday. This woman says she loves being big so much that her goal is to reach 450 pounds. She is currently at 375 pounds and says she likes being huge. Her son wants her to stop gaining the weight because he is afraid her life is in danger. Her excuse is that she goes to the doctor regularly, eats the right foods just a lot of it, and that she has no health problems. She has a website www.gaininggoddess.com in which she post updates of her weight gain progress. What do you think of this? Is her son right?

I have to admitI don't believe that she has no health problems at this size, I bet she has raiwsed blood pressure and cholesterol issues at teh very least, let alone how she would manage if she needed to run for a bus. I agree that we worry too much about being skinny, but being enormous is another thing altogether. Sure larger people can be beautiful and healthy, but if you cannot fit on one normal seat or walk for three or four hours without feeling exhausted, then its not a good plan.

I am in total agreeance with you on this. I don't see how she could not have health problems either. All that weight just isn't good for your body or your heart. I think this is insane and shouldn't be incouraged.

Its quite possible but unlikely that she has avoided many of the health problems such as high blood pressure and cholestorol that are common in people that size, but it cannot be good for her joints. Its just very extreme - a bit like those really skinny celebreties or anorexics. And quite unusual! Most of us are trying to lose our weight. But I am happy for her if she is happy. At least she provides some balance in the whole weight issue.

Her heart is going through a lot of strain with this weight. She can not possibly be perfectly healthy. I think se may have something wrong with her head and should seek the help of a therepist because that isn't healthy. I am not being funny, I am serious. Obese people have many problems they face and I don't mean with public opinion either.... Obesity gives you more chance of having diabetes, heart conditions and breathing probles.

I have absolutley nothing wrong with BBW, but that is a little extreme to "want" to be that big. granted she does seem to appear healthy, the future will bring a bad health for her. Going to extreme on either side of the weight spectrum can be bad to your health..whether its weight 400 pounds or weighing 70lbs..get it

she is insane and any more publicity will only encourage her to carry on with this madness. she has to stop killing herself.

Of course her son is right. What is wrong with this woman? Doesn't she live in the real world..and watch the news. Obesity is at an all time high...and there are so many other things associated with being overweight. It is terribly unhealthy and a strain to our organs and heart. You need to eat a sensible diet and exercise. This woman is just slowly killing herself...and making others watch.

I am over weight and even tho over all I am healthy I also have joint issues in my hips that I have to deal with. Even tho she is eating the right foods it is not healthey to eat too many of them in 1 sitting. It is sad to say but she is self destructing herself. I really hope she can wake up one day and see reality.

Well I see the point she is trying to prove, that big can be beautiful and I do give her a kudos for that because there is so much pressure to be thin! And thin is NOT always beautiful. But as far as her health goes, the heavier you are, the more risk you are putting your health at! For that it's not worth it. A healthy medium is okay... even a few pounds over is not such a bad thing and a few pounds won't harm your health but a lot of pounds do and she is risking her health.. she is lucky to have a caring son.

i don't believe she does not have health problems. ive read lots of articles about being obese and overweight and it would really affect your health. her son is definitely right. just hope she'd be back on track again.

Sorry I do not know of this who but boy is something wrong with this woman, there must be besides her weight, and I don't blame her son he must be very worried about his mother, as with a weight like that it is not healthy at all, and yes her son is right.

I had never heard about this, and from the looks of her website it is even worse than just a physical problem. She has spiritual issues too if she is into parading her body in front of the world, all at her sons expense. She is a very beautiful women, and her passions should be directed elsewhere. I pray that she will change. Weight gain or loss should never be the primary focus of ones life.

What an amazing story. I must agree with her son. If she doesn't have health problems now, she will. It's possible she may even have a heart attack one day. I know several people who have had them. They had no health problems but one day out of the clear blue they were being rushed to the hospital due to a heart attack.

As i don't believe in discriminating against others, i have to agree with the son here.. Having a goal of raching half a ton of weight, is by no means a good or healthy one..She is putting her life at risk, and selfishly so. I can't ever imagine a decent Doctor agreeing with this, and it sounds like an excuse to simply continue to gain weight. It is selfish, lazy, unhealthy, and she may even be a little against the 'sane' side of life. I simply find it sad.

She may well not have health problems as long as her life style does not change or she has no need to place stress upon her system. This is not to say this will always be so. The cardiovascular system is preprogramed for our body style. It is genetic. If your genetic make up is such that you are destined to be a large person in adulthood, your body is prepared to make adjustments. Up to a point. You don't grow extra blood vessels...capillaries not withstanding. I mean major blood vessels, such as arteries and veins. This is overly simplified so those who are informed please bear with me. For example your hands and fingers. You have one major artery that travels 'down' your arm, it has various 'branches' that allow blood flow to millions of smaller vessels. Your hand has at least two major arteries which have 'branches for each finger. The thumb has it's own artery, thus the pulse in the thumb. With the millions of 'branches' already attached to the various veins and arteries in your body, adding more as in the case of extreme weight gain, stretching skin etc, you place more stress on the existing system, much the same as the water mains in a city. Now with water mains overloads means reduced service to the customers, in the vascular system the customers are the various parts of your body. Fat concentrated areas have 'extra' blood vessels in them, reduced but present. This puts strain on the heart or the pumping system, the pressure rises and falls in an uncontrolled manner. It is good she is mentally and perhaps emotionally comfortable with her weight and any probable gain, yet it is my feeling that she also lives in denial of the actual facts of her health both now and in the future.

i really dont know her until i saw this tag and visited the website that you have provided. I have nothing against with fat people but i think she should at least try to lose weight or maintain her weight, not gain more, for health conditions. Is it true that she doesnt have any health problems? its hard to believe that...i dont know. im just so scared for her and for her son about the things that could happen to her if she gains more weight.

Well, I took a look at the website you posted and it appears to be a paysite. But I find it very interesting that anyone would wish to gain weight! *laugh* I personally have spent the last two years trying to lose weight, and have lost over 60 pounds so far. I also do not think that she should gain up to 450 pounds simply because it is not healthy. The most that I weighed was around 260, I think, at one point in my life, and even that was probably a danger to my health to one degree or another. I don't think that there is any shame in being bigger, but to _strive_ to reach 450 pounds seems like a waste, it's just not even healthy.

My question would be WHY? Is this a way of her getting attention? No one in this world wants to be so overweight, just the health risks alone could change a mind. I think her son is right in the end she will end up with man health problems. Heart, Stomach, Muscle, High Blood Pressure, just to name a few. I think she should seek some progfessional help before it is too late.
