That depends on what stem cell research you are talking about. There is adult stem cell research. The religous opponents are usually only for adult stem cell research. The main opposition comes from embryonic stem cell research. Their is also study using pre-existing stem cells; i.e. liver stem cells for new livers, but that' it.
I think embryonic stem cell research should only be able to be received from In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) left-overs (for lack of better words). IVF remains are not used and are disposed of. These were not going to be used anyways and there was no official conception. The Bible says we are humans from conception (or from the womb). IVF just produces fertilized eggs. If the IVF recipients only want one kid and three eggs were fertilized, the remaining are disposed of. Just my humble opinion.

I agree with your comments. While I am religious, I feel if the bodies can be used for good, why not? God has given us the knowledge, so let us use it for good. Thanks!

ethical values are inbuilt in human beings no amount of legislation can change that, there are bodies to govern that we do the right thing , and we must not stunt progress in the name of ethics,

Yeah, it probably should be legal, even though it is a tough decision to make due to what they are taking it from. The fetus should go to some type of use, and if it can do some good in the world, why not do it? I think we need to advance our studies in how well it can help our society out.
