Who would ever think that the humble 'kiss' could do all this ...
Having a passionate kiss for one minute burns off around 10-20 calories depending on the amount of 'energy' you put into the kiss
Around 270 colonies of bacteria are exchanged in a kiss
We spend around 2 weeks of our lives kissing ... .. and if one kiss lasts a minute that's 20,160 kisses (hey who's getting my share )
Kissing the Blarney Stone in Ireland is said to give the gift of eloquence
The very first movie kiss was appropriately in a movie called "The Kiss" made in 1896
In the US .. it's illegal in Hartford, Connecticut for a man to kiss his wife on a Sunday, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa it's illegal to kiss a stranger and rather bizarrely in Indiana men with moustaches cannot 'habitually kiss human beings" ..
50% of all people have been kissed before they turn 14
Kissing can help to relieve headaches .. because as you kiss it gently relieves the tension
Kissing is also an excellent beauty treatment ... in scientific tests kissing was shown to improve dermatitis, skin rashes and blemishes .. and it also makes your skin glow and your eyes shine
Kissing everyday will help reduce tooth decay as it encourages saliva to flow and that lowers the levels of acid in the mouth
Our brains even have special neurons that help us find each others lips in the dark
Men who kiss their wives goodbye in the morning achieve better pay packets and work status than men who don't kiss their wives
In Mediaeval times if a man and woman were seen smooching in public they would probably have been forced to get married ...
Kissing produces the same hormone in your body that firing a gun does

I can't remember the last time I kissed anyone, so think of all that bacteria I'm saving myself from getting, ewww horrid thought indeed. I love french kissing the best as this for me is very errotic and tender. Thanks for sharing all about the 'humble' kiss and I guess we take a kiss for granted!

Kissing creates and maintains intimacy. It enables you to bond with your partner. Kissing also makes you feel good about yourself, not to mention the many health benefits it awards you:
Kissing is very good for the teeth. Those of you who aren’t overly fond of dentists will be encouraged to know that research has found kissing to help prevent plaque build-up. Hopefully this means fewer visits to the dentist for some of us.
Kissing is good for the heart, as it creates an adrenaline which causes your heart to pump more blood around your body. Kissing Aerobics, anyone?
Studies have indicated that those who kiss their partner goodbye each morning live five years longer than those who don’t.
Kissing is great for the self-esteem. It makes you feel appreciated.
Kissing can aid in slowing the ageing process. For example, a fairly passionate kiss exercises as much as 29 muscles in the cheek and jaw, not to mention the esthetic benefits it brings to the colour and fullness of your lips. Move over Angelina Jolie and Mick Jagger … you’ve got competition!
Kissing burns calories, from 6-12 calories in a gentle kiss to as much as 300 in a lovemaking session! Forget Atkins™; try the kissing diet!
Kissing is known to be a stress-reliever, triggering the release of oxytocin, the “feel-good-all-over” hormone. It’s no wonder LouLou L’Amour, author of The ABC’s of Tease & Please, recommends kissing “10 seconds—longer if needed” and to repeat often!
So, go ahead, be healthy and celebrate each day with a kiss. Give your honey a big smooch and reap all the benefits! Oh, why stop at just one kiss? Bring on the chap stick!

Just think of all the other things that go on with all that smooching.
All the gum diseases and other bacteria that have a chane to swim from the kisser to the kissee. All the wonderful little bugs that are lurking between the teeth and under the gums!
The being bitten by a human can be quite the emergency because of all that baceria and is considered a terrible health threat, all due to what lives in the mouth.
So much kissing, so little time.

I live in Connecticut and to be honest I have NEVER heard that law about Hartford. I think that is totaly demented and unnecessary. Thank you for sharing this I found it to be quite intresting and funny.

LOL! Love this post! It's been far too long since I was kissed *laugh* I loved the bit about medieval times where people might have been forced to marry if they were caught kissing in public. That is just too funny. I've always been fascinated with that time period.
I also knew about the amount of calories that one can burn off while kissing. Talk about a great way to exercise! LOL ^_~
