Who is with me that daycare is too dang much. I have two kids and I was paying 1320 a month for a good, registered, well known daycare. The ones that are crap and look like roach invested were only like 300 dollars less than 1320. That is still too much.. So we were like we will go ahead and pay the 1320 for a more cleaner, popular one.. But even with me and my husband working we still couldn't afford daycare.. So we sat down and looked at our expenses and thought if we can make it work with me at home trying to make money online.. So far it's not working out at all.. Hopefully within the next few months I will see some results of my hard work that I'm putting in online..

I agree that it is expensive, but you get what you pay for. I pay $250 a month for only 2 days a week. Full time would be $600+. That is for one five-year old. I will be thankful when he starts school this fall, but I will still have to pay before and after school care, which runs $23 per day.
Good luck with your online ventures. I'm all for supporting moms who want to stay home with their kids.

Thank you I hope to figure it out.. I figure me at home is saving me 1320 and gas money.. I have 2 1/2 not potty trained and 1 yr old.. so that is why daycare was so much mainly because of infant room.. I can't wait until they start school as well.. but that is many years away..

Day care definitely costs too much. Even after school care is so expensive, it's hardly worth me going to work. I wish someone would pay me to watch my kids.
It really is a catch 22. My sister has 5 kids, so it's really hard for them. I count my blessings that I only have 2.
Good luck on the trasition. I do odd jobs for neighbors to make some money. I'm a rather handyman when it comes to things, I will mow yards, or put up fences. Do minor repairs and such. Maybe you could walk dogs or something for older people, that's something your kids could do with you. Try to think of creative ways to make money. Maybe taking clothes to laundry for older people. Or grocery shopping for older people.
What are some of the things you really like to do with your spare time, and are there any ways you could turn any of those things into money makers? Think outside of the box, be creative in your thinking. Cut new paths.

Oh thats harsh. I guess it depends on where you live. I know in Vancouver, it costs roughly 800 per child for a decent daycare. I wasn't even making 800 a month, so how the heck could I give that to a daycare! But I moved up where I am now, and its 500 a month but im making much more.

I have taken care of children and I can understand the high cost. I thought daycare cost were just too high, so my husband and I made the decision that I would stop working, move to a less expensive house and just cut back. I found myself babysitting for friends, some full time, some before and after school. I actually made more money babysitting than working and paying for daycare, even after paying a self-employment tax. I had fun with the children, it was like a birthday party everyday.
I have been searching for legitimate ways to make "real" money online for a long time and I still have not found it. Try babysitting, and if that does not work for you, get a part-time job working the hours your husband is at home with the kids. Also, look for ways to cut back on your spending and put yourself on a budget.

i am currently studying now and if i finish my course which is preschool education, i thought of having my own school or a daycare. don't you worry a bit coz if i finish the course if this thing happens, i won't charge much. that way, i'd be of help to parents who needs to earn money the way that i do. cross fingers...do u think it'll work?

I am just lucky that I work at home and at the same time I can take care of my child. Although the pay is not enough, I just mentally calculated the money I will put into daycare if I decided to go back to the workforce. I decided months ago to try putting my baby to pre-school so she can interact with other kids (she is just 2) but when I visited these daycare centers, I was mortified with the situation. It seems majority are understaff and you can't help but wonder if somebody can actually keep a close eye on your child. For the meantime, I am just enrolling her on a gymnastics class which cost me 55 a month and going to the Y, so at least my baby can socialize a little bit.

I am right now paying $135 per week for daycare for one child, which works out to a little over $540 per month. I'd like to have another child, but I think $1100 is too much for me right now.

i understand completely, i was hoping to make enough money online that we could get by on just one income but it doesnt seem like its going to work for me. I havent found anything that really amounts to much. I hope you have better luck online than i did, it would be nice if there were more opportunities to make money from home but unless you own a business it doesnt seem like theres all that much out there. good luck to you, hope it all workds out

I'm so sorry to hear that you're struggling with the income thing now that you're home from work. But I'd venture to guess that you'd be just as far behind financially if you'd stayed at an out of the home job and paid the daycare costs every week. And of course when you figure in other costs of you working outside the home, I think you'd be making too small and amount to justify the drive to work every day.
I know at least that's the situation I was in. My husband and I figured things out before we decided to have kids and realized that I'd be bringing home a ridiculously small amount of money at the end of the month if I kept my job. I'm very thankful now that it did work out that way because I wouldn't want to have to leave my kids every day anyway.
I certainly hope the online things turns more profitable for you very soon. But don't give up hope prematurely. Remember that things that are going to be financially rewarding in the long run take a lot of work and time to get established! Hang in there, and best wishes!

I definitely agree. Daycare is way too much. But, it's quite a bit less than your cost! Where do you live?! Lol. I live in central Arkansas, and daycare for one of my children would be around $75 a week! And both of my boys, about $125 a week. Of course, that's the cheapest, but the others aren't much more than that. So that's what I'm doing... considering daycare, and other expenses of working, we chose for me to stay home and take care of my boys here. They're both in school now, but I'm still staying home and making a few extra dollars here and there online. I run a website and chat site, so that brings in a little.

I know the feeling. My son is 11 years old now and I was so happy because he can come home right school. Daycares are crazy with prices now-a-days. The funny thing is every year they raise the prices. You would think as they get older it would get cheaper not much. I was paying paying estimated 500 a month and that was for before and after care...Good luck to you and I know you will be fine, keep your head up....keep us posted...

Firstly, I wish you really good luck in making more money online. At that cost, I can't imagine how staying home couldnt' end up being more profitable. I had _no_ idea that daycare expenses were so huge! I can't even imagine making that much in a month at all, let alone paying it out for daycare. I really hope that you and your husband find a good solution. I am sorry that even the crappiest daycares around were still around $1000 a month. That is just insane.

I don't have any kids, but I agree that is way too much money for daycare. I hope you succeed with making money online. Have you tried eBay?

I personally don't recommend daycares, and probably will never place my child in one. That said, I think they are extremely costly. I do applaud your decision though to stay home and take care of your kids, while trying to save money. And hopefully, everything will work out in the long run.

Having kids in daycare can be rough. I have 2 kids. When one was in daycare fulltime and the other in afterschool it'd cost $110 a week. At that time it was almost half my takehome. I tried the work at home and online thing to no avail. I even tried one of those assemble our products at home things. That was a total scam one of them expected me to find someplace to sell the product myself after I made it. What am I a store? The second kept finding excuses not to pay for the ones I'd done.
Thankfully the kids are in school now & my wife's and my schedules are offset just enough to make sure there's somebody home with them. That and we've both gotten better jobs.
