I have tried Indian food, and absolutly loved it! It's delicious and really good for you. I have tried Lamb Vindaloo, Chicken Vindaloo, Chicken Curry, Lamb Curry, and many other dishes I donnot remember their names though. Indain food is very good. I have heard that it can prevent colon cancer, and and alzheimers. however I heard that it is prevented by the curry. I have talked to an Indian man, the owner of my favorite resturant Star on India, said he has never had the flu or a cold in his life from eating Indian food on a regular basis. I highly recomend Indian food to everyone!

i really appreciate. actually indian food, as you all know, is known for spices and this perhaps reduces the risk of cold and cough. spices have amazing medicinal value and each one of them is unique in its own right. however, too much cooking and frying destroys the food value of some vegetables and modern indian cooking is concentrating on this factor. as opposed to olden times, we are developing more scientific method of cooking, courtesy -critics of indian food and chefs with scientific outlook.

Kadhi
Another thing to go with Babita's rice!
Mix curd and besan to form an even, smooth paste. Add water--- less if you like thick kadhi and more if you like it watery---till you get a mixture that is slightly more liquid than the kadhi you want. (It'll thicken as it cooks)
Throw in half a teaspoon of methi seeds (Mom says besan's bad for the tummy, but methi makes it okay ;)) and boil the mixture. Once it boils, turn the flame low and continue to cook for about 8 minutes. And it's done!
Now for the seasoning.... Heat a teaspoon of oil in a ladle and sputter mustard seeds, add curry leaves and whole red chillies. Fry till done and pour over the kadhi.
You can add pakoras to make it kadhi pakoda, or boondi to make it boondi kadhi, or just have it as it is
i like this.

There are tons of Indian restaurants in Britain, but I don't know how "Indian" the food is. I understand that original immigrants adapted the food to the British palate. Also many of the restaurants labelled Indian are actually Bangaladeshi, and I understand that there is huge variety in India in the types of food depending on which region you are in.
I really like Chicken Balti and Chicken Korma, but don't know if they are genuine Indian or British-Indian!

i agree with you, indian and bangladeshi restaurants kind of labelled as the same in britain since a few eastern states of india share a similar food habit and language with bangladesh. yes, indeed there are huge variety of intricated cuisine belonging to different regions and sub regions, it's amazing how varied the food and culture is!
as far as i know, both chicken balti and chicken korma belong to north india.
thank you for your input

I love indian food. But I most especially love chicken tikka masala and the poori. Their vegetarian dishes are all so wonderful as well. I try to treat myself with indian food at least once a month. YUM!

I have eaten plenty of Indian food and can even cook some on my own even though I am an American. I love South Indian food the most. I love dosa, idli, uttapam, chilli bajji, sambhar etc. My own sambhar is pretty tasty if I may say so myself! I also like the curries and various dal dishes. And who wouldnt like gulab jamun?
