I have two darling little boys, whom I love dearly, but what I do not like so much is when they wake up! My oldest is 2 and he has been waking up before 7:00 a.m. since he was born. Sometimes, I can get him to sleep in until 7:00 but it's very rare.. he takes a 2 hour nap in the middle of the day, and if he misses it, he can barely function. He goes to bed at 8:00 p.m. He used to go to bed at 7:00, but we thought if we moved his bedtime back, he would sleep in later, but he didn't, but it did help him take a longer nap! My youngest has begun to fall into this pattern as well, he wakes up at 7:00 every mornign on the dot. I hear all the time about people's children sleeping in until 8:00-9:00 how do they do it?

In my experience, when I took the kids out to the park & followed that hot park up with a nice time at the pool; I'd fix a nice dinner once we got home, after a full belly and a bath..they were knocked out. So try that. I don't know if you have but let me know if i helped.

Yes, I know in the summer when he's able to run and play and get tired out he sleeps better.

I don`t think it`s a problem what you have here. If your kids sleep at least 10 hours / night every ting is OK! Now, if you wanna change their bedtime (which I do not recommend) you can force them to stay awake later then 10.00 PM and in maximum 1 week (this is what the specialists say) they should "learn" to sleep till late in morning.

Yeah, I don't think I want to change thier bedtime by THAT much. I may have to move it back a little bit anyways, because my hubby is looking at a new job, where he'd get home a little later.. but I can't keep him up THAT late.. he'd be miserable.. (and so would the rest of the family) Thanks though.

My son would stay in bed all day I think, if I let him. But we leave toys just outside of his crib that he can reach and play with. He's up and down all night long. When I'm up late, sometimes I hear him singing or talking to his toys. It's really cute.
Anyway, I know we are very fortunate. He usually gets up between 10 and 11 am. I know that is sad but true. He plays all afternoon with a short 1/2 to 1 hour nap at about 3. And then he is up until we make him go to bed. During the week he stay up until about 10:30 or 11 and on the weekends we let him stay up until he starts getting cranky. Sometimes that is nearly 1 am!
We've checked with his pediatrician to see if he should be on a schedule, but he says that whatever works for him and for us, works. Some kids are just different. Ours can sleep pretty much whatever hours he wants because he is an only child and I am a stay at home mom. If he wants to stay up late I don't mind. I can always take a nap after I fix my husband's breakfast in the morning.

wow. if my son stayed up that late, he would be Miserable. The other day he went to a friends house, and we didn't get him to bed until 10:30 or so, and he was miserable for 2 days, so sleepy and cranky. He's def. not a night owl.

my daughter is 3, she goes to bed around 8 and wakes up at almost 9 am. some times she'll even sleep in later. it's great for me cause i don't sleep good at night and mostly just sleep in the early morning so i'm glad she likes to sleep in too. however she starts school in the fall so she will have a hard time getting up for that. she's so grumpy if i have to wake her up in the morning.

wow, she's a good sleeper, she must not take a nap anymore? My son acts like he will be stopping his nap soon, maybe he'll start sleeping in more if he does. Thanks for the response.

my son is 2...he sleep until 10 or later...he loves his sleep and doesnt wanna be botheren until hes ready....hes always been lik ethis since birth....our thing is...at that age we let him stay away until he just sits there at like 10 with his eyelids drooping....when we put him to bed he falls right to sleep and doesnt wake up until 10....sometimes he gets up earleier, but we let him play hard all day to try and tire him...he even take s a 2 hour or less nap during the day...the best thing is timing i think.

wow, until 10:00, I don't think my son would like to stay up that late though. It would be very difficult on him. He'd be very cranky.

i was so the same way. i would wake mom up at 8 am for food and she was not a morning person lol. i was adopted at 2 1/2 and was an early riser until my teens. sounds to me like you gotta adjust your sched around your little one's. at least you won't go through it when school comes around. getting sleepy little ones ready is a pain.

YEs, I'm sure, it must be difficult to get them ready for school and all. Thanks for the response.
