Does anyone think that they should stop making movies for the Saw franchise?

I am a big fan of the Saw franchise and think they are quite clever movies, however I feel that they should stop making any more after Saw IV as the more movies they make the more they are likely to ruin the franchise.
What does everyone else think?

I completely agree with you. I am also a great fan of this series and I think it was great that they could come up with 3 good parts in 3 successive years but I don't think that's going to continue forever. But however its a low budget series and I think the filmmakers will keep coming up with sequels until they have a flop on their hand. So I think no matter how much we want them to stop, they will keep going and eventually ruin the series.

This is what worries me that with each sequel, the series is going to suck more and more.

they probably should before it becomes another friday the 13th.though,i have to admit, jason takes manhattan was funny.
some movie companies will just keep banging them out
if they think they can make another buck.

agreed, it seems to be all money orientated these days, and it seems that there is no thought for the movie goers entertainment.

I haven't watched the 3rd on yet so I was unaware they were making a Saw IV. I'll probably end up watching it...assuming that I when I do watch the 3rd that I like it.
I think sometimes too much of a good thing is bad. I did like the first 2 but I'd hate to see them start to get bad reputations because the movies go on and on.

The third movie is good, but not as good as the second, and the first is the best one of them all.
In fact, if you have the special US edition of Saw, you will find the original short movie that started it all, and that is pretty cool as well.

I love the Saw movies, I've only seen 1 and 2 though. I have 3 on my computer but havent watched it yet, I havent really seen many reviews for it either.
I know that there is a Saw 4 on the way but I feel it might be going a bit too far and could kill the series. However if you look at some of the movie series' that have alot of movies in them then they have mostly done very well, Alien for example and the Elm Street movies.
I think if they can keep the movies on a similar level of consistency then well played to them and I will probably watch them all whether they are good or not.

It's what annoys me these days...most movies are either sequels or remakes of old or japanese movies...it sucks.

Hey don't get me wrong dude, I love blood guts and gore and they could guarantee each movie would make the franchise stronger then that would be cool, but sadly the more movies made in a seies the higher the risk of ruining the franchise.

The third one was ok, some of the traps were really cool, but I'm worried about the upcoming Saw IV. I just hope that this is a good movie and then they finish making them, but the lure of money always seems to overcome sense so it is obvious that they are going to make a shedload more and destroy a brilliant franchise.

I think most franchises lose something with each new addition, I loved the first one, thought the second was ok and havent seen the third one yet but I think there is a timespan for most things and time has probably been called on Saw.

i think they should of stopped after 3, but theres gunna be a fourth, which then they should stop b4 they get to repitative and boring, too many movies based on the same things just start to suck (EI.....THE JASON FRANSHISE)just my opinion :-D

You are definitely correct on that observation. I have watched the Saw IV and though I must say it has its own merits and pluses, it never equalled to the original and the second one.
This is actually the most common malady affecting a lot of running series of movies. Usually, the latter movies falter in quality and usually not as interesting as the original. Of course, there are exemptions on this. SpiderMan is an example -- the creator manages to rise above expectations and really done his job well. This is never the case with Saw $.
Well, even matrix had to stopped at 3. I really think that at the third installment, most franchise should stop.

I noly like the first movie, that one was really good, but I think thr ones that follow use gore too much and take it too far.
