What do you do to help protect the environment? Among other things, we recycle and reuse. We've replaced all our light bulbs with fluorescents and our appliances with energy efficient ones. I also hope to buy a hybrid soon, when the prices go down a bit.

In my own little way I contributed by planting more plants and trees. By not throwing trash even little trash. No smoking or burning things that can pollute. Cleaning my own surroundings and keeping my surroundings beautiful. I also join groups that have causes for the welfare of our environment. I also educating little children the ways of keeping healthy environment. Also by this kind of interaction in the internet, I share my ideas on how we can protect our environment. Go go green living!

I have started drying my clothes inside on racks. This adds moisture to the air which enables me to set the thermostat lower because moist air feels warmer than cold air. I also save electricity by not running the dryer. We take plastic bags back to the grocer for a recycle program. I take all bulk/junk mail (I shred it first) to my place of employment because the recycle truck comes there. I won't buy grocery items in small individual packages for my kids' school lunches, I place the chips, cookies into tupper containers that are reusable. I don't use baggies for their sandwiches instead I use tupper container. When cooking in the microwave I use an extra plate turned upside down on whatever I am warming to reduce splatter rather than handiwrap. Leftovers go into tupper containers rather than on plates w/ handiwrap. I buy large gallons of liquid soap and refill the small jar in the bathroom. There is more, but I can't think right now! We all need to do our part!

Water saving showerheads .... half or full flush on the toilet .... energy saving light globes and flourescent lights where possible .... recycle everything we can. Put old newspapers, shredder personal papers and lawn clippings in garden beds and around fruit trees .... saves water and helps keep down weeds as well. Compost all the household rubbish and put out on the plants .... companion plant in the garden rather than use any sprays .... use home remedies for spraying for bugs ... garlic and chilli is a good thing. Organically farm with no chemicals, herbicides or pesticides .... walk to the town (about 1km) or ride the bike and not take the car except if going out and will be late returning home.

I have replaced my lightbulbs and am trying to make sure I turn off appliances when I don't use them. I also use my tumble dryer a lot less than I used to. However this is mainly a way of keeping my electric bill down rather than trying to be kind to the environment. Its not that I'm not environmentally conscious, I would readily have a windmill on the house and have enquired about solar panels but they are too expensive.
Unfortunately at the moment my life is more motivated by money, which is not a situation I like at all.

i think what you said make a lot of sense.and everyone should cut down on meat and drink less milk. There are so many milk plants at home and aroad that these animals are produceing too much Dioxiside as well as makeing an oxigyen battle with human being.

We try to live green as much as possible. We've replaced our light bulbs as well. We recycle and reuse. We carpool. We try to avoid disposable items in favor of using items we can use over and over again. We use natural cleaning products. We eat organic as much as possible and try to avoid anything that has been processed.

We've done what we can so far to use less energy. Here's what we have done:
*recycle everything possible
*traded minivan for a small car that uses much less gas
*replaced all lightbulbs with cf bulbs
*replaced toilet mechanisms with low-flow hardware
*vent our electric dryer inside the house to help the furnace run less (and add moisture to the air)
*hangs clothes to dry outside in the summer
*unplug all appliances when not in use
What we'd still like to do:
*purchase solar panels to help power our home
*purchase a hybrid vehicle (expensive and hard to find around here)

Oh yeah... not having any money and all I have found it REALLY EASY to buy a hybrid car... replice all the light bulbs in my apartment... and on top of that I even bought really expensive paneling so it will heat my apartment in the winter. Yep... thats me rich as rich can be so you know I can waste my money on all this humbojumbo...
