I dont really understand why this whole myspace thing has blown up so big that almost everyone in America, and even other countries has one. what is the hype about? yes i admit i have one, but i use it as an email account, because now that is all people are using to stay in contact online. i will be on for only the time needed to reply to my emails and then sign off. It is taking over the lives of everyone today, it is unnecessary and unhealthy... does anyone agree with me? why do you use myspace.com?

Depends on how you look at it. I use myspace to keep in touch with people I would otherwise not have had a chance to. I've found several of my old high school friends (a few which have moved out of town/state) that I probably would have never seen again. I know all of the friends on my list and usually do not add people that I don't know.
However, I guess it could be used somewhat like a 'dating service'. It just depends on the intentions of the person sitting in front of the screen. Just like chat rooms and several other places on the net.happy mylot day.

yes i guess you are right in a way... but still when you find your old friends is it that hard to ask them for their email address... i dont know if it is just me, but i would much rather send an email over hotmail, or yahoo, or aol then myspace, it just seems more formal and more appropriate. Also you bring up a good point about who is on the other side of the screen.. Many people do not have the best intentions going through their head, and that is obvious. i thing myspace has gotten out of hand and there really is no way of getting it back into control.

I have a myspace page, I've even used codes to make it look cool or whatnot and I very rarely go there. I don't get what all the fuss is about either... People are always talking about myspace, and I don't see how it's any better then other websites I go to. I know that people reconnect with other people they used to know but I haven't. Most of the people on my friends list is already people I know in person or online.

Myspace is a wonderful place to create your own webpage all about you, your family, your pets, your accomplishments, goals, interests... other users can find you based upon your location and interests.
I moved from Georgia to Oklahoma about a year ago. Since then, I've found that Myspace is an amazing way to keep in touch with all of my friends and family back home, as well as to check up on them. And they can check up on me, too, since I keep my blog updated!
It's a ton cheaper than paying for cellphone minutes and long distance calls.
Additionally, Myspace brings all of those personal homepages to one location, so you're not missing out by being on Angelfire or Geocities. You're just easier to find since people can search you by name!
I've found SO many old friends on Myspace. :)

I fought getting a myspace account for quite awhile. Then just over a year ago, I figured what the hell. And I am SOOO glad I did! Thanks to myspace, I have gotten back in touch with some high school friends that have moved away, and I never would have found otherwise. It has also given me the opening to mend some rifs with people from the past. And the most important thing, thanks to myspace, I got back in touch with a guy I had kinda known in high school, and now we are together, have been for almost a year, and he is the love of my life!! If not for that site, we probably never would have reconnected, and I wouldn't be so happy!!

I first joined MySpace to look at my friend's pictures on there. You have to be a member to look at anyone's pictures so I went ahead and joined. Then I continued to use the site when I saw how many people that I knew were also members. I use it to keep up with my friends. I think it is very necessary because it is the main point of contact for most of my friends and me.

I think MySpace is also popular service because it doens't charge money. And there are usersgroups in there with so many subjects to choose from. Anyone can find something of interest there. It is even a home base for support groups and they are very important if you need to talk to someone who understands your problem.

Myspace is so popular its crazy not to have one. I cannot tell you how many different friends from school or from other activities that I have reconnected with that I would have otherwise not have been able to. Not just talking but hanging out and everything. You mentioned something about it being more formal on something such as yahoo or aol or something, but you can still be formal on myspace its the same exact thing except it has your picture beside the email. Plus if your just talking to your friends whats the need to be formal with them? Myspace is also a great way to promote your band or anything like that. Plus you can send event invites on myspace if your having a party dont call everyone or send them through mail myspace it! why not? Saves you time and money! I dont see what everyone's problem with myspace is. More and more people get myspace everyday its a good way to make new friends and an awesome way to keep up with old ones. Not only that but it's fun too and becomming better all the time. Tom is the man!
