i have never ben bitten by a dog.in my childhood i was a bit afraid of dogs, but now i am not scared of them at all.actually, when they bark at you and you try to run they will chase you,in this situation you must never run and just stand there.they are sometimes really sweet and cute, but once they become aggressive, they are like tigers.

You are absolutely right when i dog does get vilolent and attacks someone. They can be as viscious as a lion especially Rotweillers and pitbulls to name a couple. they are definatley cuddly , adorable animals that we tend to treat more like fanily then a pet1

When I was delivering pizza as a second job I always ran into this issue. There were small dogs medium dogs and large dogs. It seemed to me that the small one were usualy more vicious, and always in a attacking mode. I did how ever get chasted by a massive dog and had to jump on a car, then run around the car screaming for the owner to come out and get the dern dog. The whole time I'm doing this he is just watching, then he calls his dog off. Laughing. When I went to deliver the pizza the customer sd that this has happended before, but some people actualy get hurt in the process. I filed a complaint to the pizza joint, and as a result we no longer deliverd to that area.

I was attacked by a dog owned by my cousin, their family and my mom live in the same house when they were abroad. Gladly I overcome the fear of dogs when my boyfriend (now husband) introduced me to his dog, a doberman and yes she's huge but very friendly.

A friend's sister was bitten by a dog on her way home from the bus stop after school, and I always knew her to be afraid of some larger dogs after that. But I personally have never been attacked. I have been barked at agressively, and I don't like to turn my back on a dog that is acting that way towards me. That is when they will be most likely to approach and perhaps take action against you, if they aren't already approaching.
For me, though, I love dogs. I think that they are the most loveable creatures on the planet. yes, some can be aggressive and mean, just as some humans can be. But dogs on the whole are so loyal, loving, and are always so excited and happy to see you! I love dogs!!! ^_^

Yes dogs are definately mans best friend for just that reason. I have been told many times that a dog can sense the fear on you and if you are scared than that is when they will attack you. They are often only barking because you are trespassing on their owners territory! It is how most are brought up to be i guess.

I remember walking my daughter to the school bus stop when she was in kindergarten. We were just walking down the street. We did not see a medium sized dog (lab?) lounging on its front lawn. As we passed in front of his house he jumped to his feet and started barking. He was chained up but scared the living daylights out of both of us. My daughter, now 10, still has a little bit of fear of dogs.

well im scared of dogs without leashes as i have been attacked by dogs when i was in elementary..
here's what happened.. when me and my brother crossed the street we ran to avoid being hit by a vehicle and we stopped in a store with big dogs just sitting around.. the dogs were startled and started barking at us and we were afraid so we ran back to were we came from.. the dogs then came after us.. the dog which chased my brother was nearly hit by a car so it stopped chasing my brother but i was left with the other dog still near my skirt. i was screaming and a lot of people were looking but not doing something. its amazing how they just look and wait for me to be bitten by the dog. well it was a blessing that our "yaya"/tita was nearby and she scared the dog off by throwing a stone. she really thought that the dog was gonna have a piece of me if she hadnt come in time. so from then on i was afraid of dogs barking or not.

I have been attacked and bitten by several dogs. As a child I had a paper route and dogs chased me all the time and knocked me off my bike and then attack me. Even though this happened I am still not afraid of dogs. I just learned to respect them and to approach them easily.

Not afraid just respectful of the damage that they can do. Strange dogs need watching and they will alert you to the possibility of friendship. Growling ones I like to sing when near, they tend to stop and listen. Helpful during bike rides. If they jump you just need to step on a back foot and they are down. You never run from a dog, they will pull you down. Best to not look at them in the eye and stand still. Usually you will be ok.

I've never been bitten or attacked by a dog, and, as I've always had a dog, I'm quite comforable around them.
However, the larger the dog, the more respect I show towards it.
One rule is never put your hand out to a strange dog. If the owner is with the dog, ask first if it's okay to pet it.
Another rule is never put your face/head down to the dog. They may feel this is aggression on your part and act in defense.
Never let your child run up to a strange dog; that may frighten the dog and when frightened they may take aggressive action.
I love dogs, but I think all animals deserve respect and care.

I am not afraid of dogs, since I know why would (if) any dog want to attack me. Especially not scared of those who are barking - they are less threat than those who just give you a scary look.
If I see that a dog is not friendly, I don't approach to him. But, you see, msotly dogs are attacking because they are scared, and if you still want to approach to a distrustful dog, you have to show him that you are his friend.
I was cuddling even the scariest dogs I've seen; except for rabid ones.

The bigger dogs do scare me sometimes when I am walking through the neighborhood and a huge dog in its yard will come up and bark like crazy. It almost looks like it will jump over the fence. LOL The smaller dogs that bark do not scare me. I have never been attacked or bitten by a dog as of yet. I love dogs very much and if I were to get one it would probably be a smaller dog. I think a dog growls at a person to scare them away as they are trying to tell me or somebody that they are not welcome there.

I have never been attacked or bitten by a dog, and I have no fear of dogs at all. If I walk by a dog who is growling, I know that he is instinctively protecting his "turf" and I will avoid aggravating or going near him, even if I have to go out of my way. I have never had a dog chase me or attack me. They always have just stood their ground and backed down when I avoided them. Some dogs are more prone to attack even when unprovoked, but I blame the owners for this more than the dogs. These pets should be leashed or behind a gate or a fence.
We always had a dog when we were growing up, and my parents were very careful to watch us when we were around the dog. We were never left alone with the dog when we were too little to understand, and we were taught certain common sense things like to never bother the dog when she was eating, not to scare her awake if she was sleeping, and never to try to take a bone or a toy away from her. We grew up understanding that dogs will bite under these circumstances out of instinct.

My husband is afraid of stray dogs because he was bitten when he was little. I'm not afraid of any dogs except maybe doberman. I try to tell my husband that even though he is afraid that when you see a stray dog and it looks mean try not to run because they sense fear and will definitely come after you. I was always told to just keep walking like they don't bother you and when I do see a stray if I'm out walking somewhere I just keep walking and I haven't been bothered by any. I know it is hard to do but it works for me. :)
