How long do you sleep?

I sleep an average of 5-6 hours a night. People say that is below normal and I should try to get a full 8 hours of sleep... I go to bed when I am tired, I wake up when my body tells me to (I don't use an alarm clock) How long do you sleep and do you think you should force yourself to sleep a certain number of hours a day?

It is always 7 hours.May be an hour more on Saturday nights. This pattern gets disturbed rarely exept when you have to be ready early in the morning to catch some train or flight.

That is good that you are able to catch up on your sleep because you don't want to become so sleep deprived that you just don't have enough time to get enough sleep! Thanks Zelo

It all depends if I'm tired or not, if I have a hectic day then I like to sleep longer but if I'm not working then, 6 hours will do it.

You must be an energetic person by nature or something. I could never bear a productive day with 6 hours of sleep on me...I'd surely get fired or into serious trouble because I get very moody.

So when you are not working you actually sleep less than if you are working. I am sure there are other people out there that are exactly the opposite. I guess we all have our own sleep patterns. Thanks Zelo

That is good that you can listen to your body and give it the proper amount of rest that it needs. Thanks Zelo

8 hours a day sounds like the appropriate time for full recovery in order to face a brand new day of hard work, if you ask me.

I have found that if I go to bed at 11pm and wake up at 6am, which is 7 hrs...I have a really good day. If I stay up too long and sleep in late I am useless. I believe we are all different some need more and some need less sleep. On the weekend I tend to stay up later but try not sleep in...if I sleep past 7am I dragggggggggggggg all day long...I do not use an alarm clock...my hubby does....I usually do not even here them(2 of them by the way)go off but, he wakes me up with a kiss and a nice hot cup of coffee....Have a Blessed Day!!!

I am one of those people that all I have to do is tell myself what time to get up in the morning and I automatically wake up at that time. My wife needs the alarm clock but my body sleeps right through it if it is not time for me to get up. Thanks Zelo

I am a late night sleeper. But I always wake up at 6am. The earliest time I sleep is 3am then wakes up at 6. But most of the time I sleep at 12mn. So I have 6 hour sleeping period. Maybe it's with the age. LOL Take care =)

It seems like the older I get, the less sleep I can manage during the night. Most nights it's between 6-7 hours, but I also have to get up every 2 hours if I'm lucky to go to the bathroom. So my nights are a collection of naps. I've decided that is how I get my daily exercise.

Hi zelo, I was told that we would be much healthier if we could have 8 hours of sleep daily. I love to watch tv programs and do mylot posting at the same time until midnight. Yeah, I usually would sleep for slightly more than 6 hours, though sometimes I’m still quite sleepy when getting up I would like to take a 30 minutes siesta after back from my work. This could make me to feel energetic again after having the proper rest Happy posting

I would love to be able to sleep for as long as I could but I never get that priviledge. Normally, I get about 6 hours sleep. But sometimes, I cheat and take a nap with my 2 year old when she crashes for a mid afternoon nap.

Different people require different amounts of sleep.

On a weekday I get about 7 hours sleep. On a weekend I gt about 10 hours. I think if you get up naturally than thats what your body requires. I wish I could get by on that little! I wouldnt force yourself to sleep though- only if your tired.

I try to get 8 full hours a day of sleep. But sometimes when I fall behind I find myself sleeping more to catch up on lost sleep. I have heard of some people being able to get away with 5-6 hours a night of sleep. I myself have to have at least 8 full hours.
