This is for people that work full time. How do you feel about working four 10 hours a day week? Does anyone work this schedule? Do you like the standard schedule of five days a week at 8 hours a day? I would definitely like the four days a week as it would give me three days off to get errands and appointments done. My company does not offer that so I have to work the standard schedule.

I personally work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week and have so for so many years I don't think I would know what to do with an extra day off.
My son used to work 4 days, 10 hours and he hated it, primarily because his 4 days were Tuesday through Saturday. (He always had to work on Saturday). So I believe it would depend on what days you have to work.

I used to work a very similar shift some years ago, although it was a night shift from 8 PM to 6 AM. The shift was welcomed by me because I finished work at 6 AM on Friday morning and returned to work at 8 PM on Monday evening. This was roughly half of the week at work and half of the week off.
Regrettably that type of work pattern is no longer available to me, and I often end up having to go in on Saturday after working the 5 days. I have no real complaints about the hours that I currently work, but would certainly prefer a 4 day week.

I would love to have a four day work week but since I am a technology instructor working with people with disabilities that is not possible. I still like my hours now better than at the bank when I worked nights and weekends and most holidays.

I think it would depend on the type of job you do. If you work at a factory job where you are on your feet for long periods of time or doing heavy work you may not want to work very long hours.
My husband works four ten hour days. However, when you tack on the time it takes him to get to and from work he is actually working 16 hours most days. He is so beat that on Friday he can't seem to get anything done. He is a little better by Saturday and by Sunday we spend quality time together.
when I was working in retail my job was stressfull and very physical and I could not handle ten hours a day.
I said all this to say that it is up to the idividual what they can handle. The other thing is if your company will give you ten hour shifts.

I would love to do that. In my case, although I do work from home, I work a 48 hour week. It is six days at 8 hours a day and I wouldn't mind if I could work 4 12 hour days. Those extra days off would be wonderful!! But I have to work in conjunction with a couple of other people, and at least one of those would never agree to working that many hours at a time. But it's a nice dream anyway. :)

My husband only works 3 days a week and has 4 days off. He works from 5am-9pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and then works from 1pm-9pm on Thursday. He has the rest of the week off. But we don't do anything different. It just gives him more time to sit around and watch TV.
I don't think I could do 10 hours a day. I was hurting after just 8 hours. I would get home and my legs would hurt so bad that sometimes I couldn't get out of the chair.

i share your sentiments. actually, i've posted a similar discussion a few months back. i prefer the four-day work week because aside from saving on transportation expenses, the extra day off would allow me to venture into a part-time jobs.

I used to have a job where I worked 10 hours a day.It was hard because we didn't get the breaks we are supposed to get.I know that by law,if you work 8 hours a day or more, you are supposed to get a lunch and 2 breaks but we didn't.WE only got 2 breaks couple that with the fact we are on our feet all day,it was a killer! I think all jobs should offer 4 day weeks. Two day is not enough to get done what needs to get done

Well, sorry that you can't have your wish right now. Maybe someday, you never know. I think some people that work part time can get four days work week. I remember doing that when I was in school and working at the same time. I think it would be great if full time people would get that as well. You would definetly get alot done in three days.

I worked for a small company of about 50 people and our work schedule was 91/2 hours per day for 4 days... If we were on time all four days, they paid us for 40 instead of 38...and we had fridays, saturdays, and sundays off... I loved it! Also, about the last week of october up until the week before christmas we all worked 1 or 2 days extra to "bank" for the week of christmas and new years... that way we had two weeks off with pay... now that made us work 5 and sometimes 6 straight days with no overtime pay, but we voted to do it that way because there was no business going on from christmas week until after new year and this way we could have that time off without any penalty.. It was great! I wish more companies would consider doing such things...

I'll take standard schedule.
I don't think that I can handle 10 hours a day week, besides it will reduce my overtime fee.

I would LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE to work 4- 10 hour days instead of 5- 8 hour days. I actually work 6-8 hour days and an occasional 5 hour day on top of that. I wish I could have more days to myself because I feel like if we had more days instead of more hours PER day, we would likely be happier as humans. Time to find that job :)

The 4-day work weeks are definitely something worth having...especially if you work at a factory.
You won't notice the two extra hours each day, but you'll definitely notice the extra day off for the weekend. If anyone has the chance to work this kind of shift, i would definitely recommend it!
