I love poker and I have played online also .In my household we are big poker fans and get together often to play poker , I wouldn't say online playing made me any better but if I had never played before it would have helped in the fact that you would learn how to play the game and how well you can bluff someone out . We play on a bunch of different sites in the tournaments , we play all the free one's that you can win money on , the freerolls .

Good luck to you and your group as well. I will watch for you on the "WPT" :)

I play online poker quite a bit. I play mostly at pokerstars.net. I sometimes use fulltilt poker and partypoker. I played UltimateBet for a little while too. I also know that Daniel Negraneau has a good one but it's still pretty new.
There was a free tournament/class that was going on around town but it had to close down. It was nice because it was giving me real table experience without spending any money. I want to go get casino experience under my belt but even a $25 buy in is just too much for me right now.
As for tips...I say learn as much as you can. Play often and stick with your gut. Sometimes it is what gets you through on the crazy hands. Also learn all the variations not just Texas Hold Em.

I have played holdem for about 4 years and I am hooked as well. You have to go to the online casinos for the freerolls.

Don't you feel that at real Poker your odds are more with your skill in playing those cards? I realize that if you don't get the cards you don't get the cards. But bluffing and or having the right playing technique could make your average better?
Just a thought.

yes i'm playing online and also in a live game..my favorite site is pokerstars (texas hold'em whether it's limit or no limit)
my advice for you is that you play first online to practice or in the tournaments or freerolls before playing on a real money live game.

I love playing just about any game online. I go to Pogo a lot, and love it when I get the free trials. I also play at some of the online casinos, too many to name. But my favorite is BetZip.com. They have Texas Hold 'em tournaments all the time. You can play for free and earn points to get into the tournaments, or you can join for $9.99/month I think and play all the cash games also. I have never won cash yet, but I have talked to plenty of people that have. If you'd like to join, let me know and I can send you a referral link.

I love online poker. I play at Everest poker since 30 months and earn cash every month. And lately in a new one I found called PKR. PKR is nice 3D site where you can customize the look of your avatar and buy stuff with your points like new chip tricks, glasses, hats and so on. It also has 1st person vews and more. I got in the money in a freeroll for the first time yesterday. I hope to make some more and start earn cash on this site too :D Go check it out if you havent seen it.
Cheers!

I am having a blast at PKR. Even if I make money every month some months I do not play for a lot and only withdraw 20$. But lately I liked the 3D version of online poker its pretty well done.

Im also hooked on online poker. I do not think it helps your game because the cards online are not random but you can win. I play alot on absolute poker its the best one ive found so far. Oh by the way I'm also a Pogo member lol.

thanks - I will try the aboslute Poker when I get a chance.
I think it depends on the room your in and how many goof balls are just there to be silly and not play the game as you normally would if you were using your own RREAL money.
Most of the time I get in a pretty serious room with people that are trying to learn better skills like I am. It all depends.
Isn't POGO great! I love the word games there :)

Love online poker :)
I usually play at Titan poker. But I often play freerolls on Party Poker , Everest , Poker Loco and Cake Poker.
My opinion is that it is better to play for some money (I usually plau 0,02/0,04 NL Holdem when I play at cash games)
I feel like sometimes when playing play money and playing freerolls it feels like bingo, because some people dont care about how they play when they dont use their own money.

I agree that the quality of people playing seriously can be less in the FREE games with no real money involved. I am a bit too much of a beginner yet to feel comfortable in a game with real monies only because I may screw up someones esle's chances just because I play poorly? But I am getting better and I will sure want to be giving that try.
Thanks so much ! I am pleased that you responded.

ahhh my game place. I love it there too, I haven't tried the free roll games yet but I will with a little more practice. I am getting braver and I find myself winning more often than not so I am close.
Thank you for your response I appreciate the information.
