Mine is Ruth, I have read it several times and I even watched a movie on it, didnt care alot for the movie. This past weekend my kids and I were eating diner and a conversation peeked on people in the bible, so we got the bible and we took turns reading it. Can anyone give me another book in the Bible that they think is wonderful, or good and why do you like it?

My favorite book, for me, is the book of Ecclesiastes in the Old Testament. The person that wrote this book is king solomon, the wisest, powerful, popular and handsome person in his time. He is very rich. There was a time in his life that God was spoken to him and God was pleased Him because of King David, his father. God, because of his unfading promises in david, grant a wish in solomon. Solomon answered God and prefer to have wisdom than riches, wealth, and popularization. As a result of solomon's choice, God not only granted wisdom upon solomon but also he granted that solomon will become wise, and popular, and migthier, richest in his time. As a result, he was very popular in his time. He got so many riches and wealth. He have so many proverbs that made. Many great person in his time owed to his wisdom. He was very mighty in his time. And because of that, he got so many friends and riches. But because of the great riches and wisdom the God grant to him, unfortunately he was blinded by his riches and wisdom and so he married 500 wives and 300 concubines. He sinned against God. He disobeyed the will of God in his life. And enjoy his life pleasuredly in the pleasures that can be found in the Lord. He didn't anymore love God and he prefer to love and enjoy riches in this world that to love and obey God and his Commandments. Because of that, God is so faithful to him that he finds a way to bring realization to solomon that riches, wealth, friends, wives, wisdom and knowledge are but only mere vain thing. So if you found out in Ecclesiastes chapter one, in verse two of that chapter, you will find out that all things in these world are vanity. He repeats it three times signifies that he finds no satisfaction here in the world. Riches, wealth, wisdom, understandin, pleasures that are in the world, etc., are but only vain thing. He realizes that serving and loving God is the ultimate purpose of his life here on earth. He commanded every young people in ecclesiaster 12:1 that "Remember thy creator in the days of thy youth..." And also solomon concluded in the later part of his life that "Fear God and keep his commandment" is the ultimate purpose of life here on earth . Being a young people, i found myself loving this book because it realizes you that God alone is the ultimate need of our lives. God Bless and thanks for that Question.

My favorite is readings in Luke. In Luke 6 there are may messages that tell you not to judge,or to condemn. To be merciful, and to forgive. I wish that I could tell you how many times I have met people that claim they are christians, yet they stand and judge everyone as if they are god himself. It makes me sick, the holier than thou attitude they have when they are not what they claim to be and are worse than those they are judging.
Sorry to rant, but I have run into this constantly and I am sick of it.

I have two favourite books, actually - Psalms and Acts of Apostles. Psalms because it reminds me of Jehovah's mighty acts on behalf of His people, His love, and the reliability of His promises. Acts, because it is calls me to action as a Christian. I feel very motivated and encouraged when I read these two books.

First of all i want to say that I am glad I can read because the movie on Ruth did the book no justice. My favorite book of the bible is Job because it taught me that no matter what I go through if I don't give up and stay obedient God will take care of me and reward me for being faithful. God is so fair and loving, and I just love talking about him.

I love the book of Esther. I am a Christian, I read thise books so many times. In this book, eventhough Esther is a Pricess, she took fasting for 3 days without food & water, for her caste ( jews)Then she went to the King. Saying that if I die also no problem. Because for going to King, there is a time. When Esther went, the King did't call her. If anybody goes to king like that, if he shows the golden rode, it means King is kind to him. Otherwise that person will die. So Esther went to the King and he showed the golden rode to Esther. In this case she saved all the life of her own people ( Jews ).So Esther did't take care for her life. She wanted to save her people any how.

I like the Matthew, John, Luke and Mark because it tells the story of how Jesus lives etc and the era when He is still living on earth. From there you can learn a lot both on the history side and also on the how to applies His teaching to everyday life.
A character that I like from the book is Mary the mother of Jesus.. however bible dont have special book on Mary.. but I think she is a good topic if you want to discuss bible etc. Let me know if you want to know more or something...

That sounds so wonderful. It is moments like that that you will treasure the rest of your life. My favorite book of the Bible is Proverbs. It isn't really one of those books that I sit down and read all at once, but I find that when I am having a hard time with something, I go to Proverbs, and God leads me where I need to be to find the verse that will help me. It is an amazing book filled with many many verses that we can apply to our lives even today.

I would suggest the Gospel of Mark.
Mark details the life of Jesus Christ from the beginning of His ministry to the climax. Mark presents this in a rapid succession of vivid and exciting accounts of Jesus in action. Children will love the rapid-fire excitement.
The Gospel of John also gives the life of Christ, but from a different perspective. John concentrates on the great love of God and the difference it makes to us. While some of the accounts are the same events as recorded by Mark, you see them through different eyes.
Many Old Testament books give really exciting accounts of history, but these are interspersed with a lot of background. The book of Nehemiah is one of great leadership and would interest you and the children.
Happy reading.

I love the Psalms, it is not a complete story but it told a story or stories of its own, it reveals so much about human emotion, weaknesses, strengths and hopes. It also showed how God deals with all these things, plus it can strentghen you at the time you needed the most encouragement. In line with history, I love the 1 and 2 Samuel so thus the 1 and 2 Kings. But if you want something deeper to ponder about, to strengthen your faith, turn to Hebrews. I hope I ws able to help.
