Hey villeageanne, don't limit easy bake oven to the girls. My son loved it just as much.
He made all kinds of things, one of his favorites was pretzels - made in the shape of hockey sticks.

I had an Easy Bake Oven as a kid. My mother still had it in her basement until recently. My, how things have changed. My oven was mint green! My 13yo has an Easy Bake Oven I bought her a few years back. Now her sister uses it. My 13yo now bakes in the big oven. She'll just open a box of cake mix, or a package of cookie mix, and bake. As long as adults are at home she is allowed to do this on her own. And she does a great job. My girls made me my birthday cake this past October. It was precious.
We still have plenty of the mixes that came with the Easy Bake Oven. Actually, the year after my daughter got the Easy Bake Oven for Christmas, I bought her a box of more mixes. The cakes sure don't go very far though, do they? LOL!

I had the mint green Easy Bake Oven too!!!!! MAN I loved that thing to pieces LOL My dad used to always ask me to make him cakes :) He'd eat 'em in two bites. I could never quite believe that you could bake a cake with a lightbulb. I guess it was a bit of science education as much as learning about baking! LOL

I bought my granddaughter one for her bithday. I wish I would have had these recipes then. She is almost 15 now, so she isn't interested in the oven anymore. I would buy her the mixes, we had great fun baking together. She liked to keep it at my house, for when she came over. I would also buy the jiffy cake mixes for her to use. We will be using it someday when she has a little girl.

Thanks for the recipes. I also bought one for my son. He loved it. Now my daughter-in-law wants to buy one for my grandson and he doesn't think it is a good idea. I had to remind him that he had one when he was little. So if they don't buy him one, I will. I think its a great learning experience for both girls and boys.

Aww! I remember wanting an Easy Bake Oven *so* much when I was a kid! I can't think why I never got one, lol, as I really was rather spoiled by my father and I can't remember not getting other things that I wanted... hmm. Maybe I never asked for one, but I remember wanting one so badly! *laugh* I remember going over to my cousin's house and making stuff in her Easy Bake Oven, and how excited I was because I'd always wanted to try one! But I don't remember what we made. Oh well! *laugh* Thanks for bringing back that memory!! ^_^ I can't believe how many things you can make in one! ^_^

I'm one of five brothers and when we finally got a sister we all doted on her... she got an easy bake oven and a bunch of other "household" toys practically the day after she was born.
I used to enjoy watching her play with that toy.
It turns out that she is the only one among us (we are all good cooks) who can really bake! :)

These are great...I don't think I've ever seen recipes for an Easy Bake Oven. I used to love mine! So did my brother and sister. My brother made the best peanut butter cookies in it that would melt in your mouth. I can't wait to get one for my child (when I have one)!

I never had one even though they were huge when I was younger. I actually don't think I ever even asked for one. I do have one for my 7 y/o though. She got it last Christmas (2005). It is still in the box in the bottom of the closet though. I may have to dig it out so we can try these recipes. Thanks.

This brought a smile to my face. Brought back the memories of when my Mom got me an Easy Bake Oven when I was a kid and the time we would spend together making stuff with it. It's really what got me interested in baking and cooking. Now I have a bigger oven to play with, but I miss baking with my Mom.

I have never had an easy bake oven. When I was younger I used to want one but nobody wanted to get me one. If I ever have a daughter I hope I can buy her one. It is a great bonding experience for both mom and child ( and even in some instances father and child)

Wow! I had no idea you could make "real" things in an easy bake..I had one when I was little, but we got rid of it when I ran out of mixes and couldn't find more. I think I made some nachos or something with it but couldn't make desserts. I have a son now and possibly another on the way, I'll have to find one again. Are they still making them?

Oh goodness there are a lot of recipes. I am going to have to copy them all. I was going to get my 6 1/2 year old daughter an Easy Bake Oven for Christmas but the store I was at had no extra cake mixes and what fun is one cake, one cookie and one brownie. Especially when she would have had to share with her brother and sister. So I didn't get it but was thinking of getting her one for her 7th birthday. I know I had one as a kid and loved it. Maybe that is why I love to bake so much.
Actually, I think my son would like the oven more then my daughter. He is 5 and loves to help me in the kitchen. He cleaned my stove for me yesterday while I did the dishes. With those recipes I'll have enough mix for all the kids to have a go at it. Thanks.

My children recieved one of these when they were younger-I think I threw it away after the first use.
Cooking with a light bulb? who thought up that idea?
They never waited until it was fully cooked, but kept opening the door, letting the 89 degree temp drop back to 70. WHen they did pull out the cake, it always stuck onto the lightbulb. And we argued about it constantly. No thanks.

Nope, I never had an easy bake oven. My mom had 8 kids, and she pretty much let me know that she wouldn't have the time for something like that (meaning - if I got one - I would want her to play with me with it and that wasn't going to happen). I still have not yet gotten one for my daughter who is only two, but one day I will. Funny thing though...my 13yr old son always used to want one really bad.
