After the birth of your child..

After my baby was born, I didn't let her go anywhere with out myself or my husband with her. We live in a small town/smaller hospital and I know everyone, I just felt better with her in my room with me. I know that a lot of people think that I should have let her go in the nursery and let the nurses keep an eye on her, I just didn't want to- I didn't think they would keep a close enough eye on her. Did your baby stay in the room with you after you delivered or what did you do?

My babies all stayed in room with me as soon as they were able. With my daughter she staying in my room with my husband for 24 hours or so because I was in ICU.
My 2 sons were both born slightly early and had complications from the c-sections so they spent time in the special nursery (NICU). I was always so relieved to have them back in my room where they were with me all the time.

-O- I couldn't imagine what it would be like to have complications and thennot be able to be with your brand new baby. My sister had a C-section with her last one & she didn't get to see her until the next day, because of the aftermath of the C-section-- but, her husband took pictures of hte baby so she could see. I just think how hard that is on the Mothers especially at such an emotional time.

Absolutely! As soon as he was born (at home) he was on my chest and didn't leave until my husband carried him to the bathroom for our herb bath. He was with either my husband or me for 2 months until we went out to dinner one night. He hasn't been apart from us sice. (He's 5 mos).
Those early moments are the most important. You are familiar to baby and she needs you to introduce her to everything. So many changes in environment are overwhelming..I can't remember my son crying at all that first day and night.

My daughter was born 2 months early and was in the NICU for 6.5 weeks. It was horrible. I didn't even get to see her until she was about 10 hours old. My next one will definitely be roomed in with me. I am a nursing student and know she will be taken care of in the nursery, but she is mine and after what happened with Brooke I don't think I'd be able to let her go.

I'll be giving birth at home, so no one can take him from me!!! I think it's really unnatural for a baby to be separated from it's mom so soon after birth. I mean, she's been living inside you, hearing your voice and heartbeat in the background for nine months. I think being with mom after the birth makes for the easiest transition to the outside world for infants. Birth is a big event for baby, I want to make sure I'm with him afterwards to reassure him that my voice and heartbeat is still close by!
