They get a party at home with a cake they want from the store and then we have a dinner with family invited. My son may have a few friends this year for bis b-day since he started kindergarten though.

We let my oldest invite her whole class in Kindergarten. Do you know only 1 out 25 kids showed up. Her feelings were really hurt. I was lucky that other friends I had invited for her showed up. I just felt so bad.

We don't do much. We usually try to take that child to their choice of restaurant on their birthday but a lot of times my husband works so we do it a few days before/after or whenever we can. As for a party--only my oldest has ever had a party with other kids invited. Usually I just make a cake or cupcakes and we have that after dinner on their birthday. They get a couple gifts and either open them after cake or, with my son, get them through out the day (which really worked good--he got one after breakfast and another after lunch).
Even with my daughter's parties I don't do more then cake and lunch. I usually invite a friend's kids over. It just depends on who is available because both friends have daughter's with birthdays right around my daughters (one is the week before and the other is the day before hers).
(but you already know that. ;) )

Any chance you will be back here by then. Want to know something funny ( I will tell you anyways ) I read your response by email. I had no clue who it was & when I got to the end it said "But you already know that". I thought what in the world is going on?! I then saw it was you & had to laugh :)

I never could gt the hang of the whole party thing though I have tried over the yrs...now that my kids are older though we usually take them out for dinner or I'll cook them their fav meal and they get $250 each (they prefer money to prezzies) and a day of shopping if they want (with their bday money of course LOL)

We always have a party for my daughters. We usually buy a cake from Sam's club and decorate with their favorite themes. We invite all of our family and a few of my daughters friends. We have a meeting room at our local fire station where we hold the parties, or in the summer we have them at a local park.

We go all out for a birthday. Huge party with gobs of people. Sometimes a bowling party, skating party, swimming party, sleepover party and so on. We have 4 children with birthdays in Jan, March, July and Nov. So they are spread out pretty good. The Jan one(she turned 15 this year) is the hardest with it being right after Christmas. The March one is the eastiest (he turned 4) we usually have the tax refund in our hand. The July party (sweet 16)is usually outside. we have had a luau, campout, swimming parties for her. The Nov party is for our 7 year old girl So far she likes theme parties....barbie, princess, magic and so on. She wanted a bowling party this past year. It was fun but not many kids came.
We always let the birthday child pick the party unless it is to be a surprise. they pick the menu and the guests. They don't have any chores and I cool their favorite foods for breakfast and supper. I try to make it a special day every way I can. We don't always have money to spend on a big blow out but I don't think it is the money spent that makes the party good. I think making the child feel like king or queen for the day is a great thing.

It depends on the ages I find that when they hit teen years they dont want the birthday scene, the way we do it here is this ages 1-12 invite friends for cake and ice cream and then do something special like games or skating or evan to the park, ages 13 and up we take them to dinner and then to a store of their choice and let them spend 20.00 on a item of their choice but clothing we allow 10.00 more.

It depends on our budget at the time, If were quite broke they get to pick a venue for a dinner out, followed by a cake at home with Granny, Grandad ,Uncles and Aunts.
We did hire a clown last year for a party at home, I have to say it was the best party both for the 18 kids and for me as I had nothing to do whats so ever. I find these fun centers are expensive, and a waste of money so we tend to have them at home

Well, we've only done 2 birthdays so far. One we did at a park, the other we did at home. While the one at home was nice because everything we needed was RIGHT there, it was also HORRIBLE because we had like 8 toddlers running through our home.. and they completely destroyed it. It took HOURS and HOURS of cleaning to get my house back to normal.. I cried. Those kids even took the PICTURES OFF THE WALL!!! I will never do that again. And I can honestly say that it wasn't that the kids are horrible, but that there parent's felt very comfortable to jsut let them play in the play room b/c our hosue is of course baby proof.. so my hubby and I would have to be the one's to go back there every 10 minutes or so and see who was trying to kill whom. I will definently have the remainder of his parties at a facility of some sort, until he gets older. The one we had at a park was nice, it was at a park that had a splash pad (it's a whole bunch of sprinklers everywhere basically) and it was August and like 100 degrees outside. I think we'll actually go THERE again. WE always buy a cake, I love to bake, but there is always so much going on..with other food prep. and keeping my son happy.. that I don't like to have to make more than neccesary.

For my child's birthday. I decorate the house with ballons, and streamers. I hang a happy birthday sign up. I bake there cakes, they don't care for the store bought ones. I make there favorite meal. I don't usually let them have friends over it's just a party with the family. They don't go to the movies or anything like that, I will rent newer movies they choose and we will watch a movie. I don't invite no one over just because they want it to be the family.

my son's birthday is coming up soon, so i'm starting to plan that. i usually have a party at home, and i invite the neighborhood kids that he hangs out with, and family that live close by. usually the ones that have children. and of course nana and papa. i try to do a theme when i decorate for their parties. that way they will enjoy their parties. this year my son is into the new childrens movie "cars" so we will be decorating in that theme. cake and all. yes, i do buy a cake. then later on that night we might take the kids to dinner.
now my daughter is turning 5 in march this year. she's done asked for a tinkerbell cake.

My middle daughters birthday is on 2/8. I will let her pick out the kind of cake she wants me to make. We will buy a cake for her birthday & my in-laws will come over. The Saturday after her birthday I will make a cake & my family will come over. We usually do one family party. I split it up this year because my family has not seen the new baby yet (1 month old). I thought it would be easier on everyone if they got to see her without everyone else around.

We only invite the immediate family right now. We will probably start doing parties for classmates and stuff like that when my oldest turns 4. I think he's too young right now. We throw him a family birthday party at home and give him his gifts along with pizza or take out from somewhere. We also have a cake which is their favorite part.

Because I'm not a very good in baking, I simply bought a cake complete with icings and designs my kid chose. I will always gatheres all my siblings, relatives and friends over to my house for a simple yet intimate celebration. Every birthdays was something I always planned early. I like them to be special for my girls.

My daughter is turning 7 this year. If I remember it right, we held a party for her 1st, 2nd, and 6th bday. Last year she really wanted to have an Ariel themed cake so I went to Goldilocks to order. It's not that expensive but I saw how happy my daughter was. We cooked a few dishes for merienda and dinner. Close relatives were invited and a few kids in the neighborhood. She really had a great time being with kids on her bday.
