Snoring is a form of sleeping disorder because it interferes with sleep. It is often associated with sleep apnea, another sleeping disorder characterized by cessation of breathing while you sleep, usually lasting 10 to 20 seconds. Have you ever experienced this? Have you considered getting yourself tested?

Sleep apnea is the temporary cessation of breathing while the person is asleep. Scary, huh? If you have this, you often wake up in the night gasping for air or dreams about refusing to breathe or something... This is often accompanied by snoring. I know you're familiar with this somehow coz we're both medical professionals, lols... Anyway, check this site, http://askthesleepexperts.com. I wrote the articles there myself.

Snoring is often a symptom of apnea, so I think you weren't dreaming when you had it. You can tell when you are having apnea episodes because you wake up gasping, or you are suddenly awoken from sleep for no apparent reason.
It shouldn't be taken lightly because apnea leads to health complications like hypertension and other heart problems. So, it's better to have yourself checked by your doctor.

I snore a little, but not a lot. My hubby says that all he has to do is push me a little and I'll stop.
Now my husband is a different story! He snores a LOT! I do believe he has sleep apnea because I will hear him actually stop breathing, then take a really deep breath. He's never been tested for it because he still seems to be getting enough sleep. If it every gets to be too much, I will try to get him to get tested.

Although im not aware of it, but my wife told me that i often snore when im asleep. She said that i always do this when im always tired that day. It never crossed my mind to get it treated since i don't considered it as a major illment.

I guess nobody considers it a major ailment because it is as common as the common colds. Snoring is often a sign of obstructive form of sleep apnea wherein something is obstructing your airway making it hard for air to enter the lungs therefore oxygen levels in the blood is markedly decreased and that's not good.

Ah man...The baby was woke up from snoring. I never thought of that scenario. I guess I'm going to have to take care of my future baby, or make my husband(who snores) take care of the baby since he's the one that woke him up!! GOLLY-snorings annoying...I shove him till he wakes! The worse is when's he on the couch during the day snoozing, and snoring. Well-I gained weight and snored too...I'm sure that's what is it,and for your sake hope that's what that is.

I do snore but mainly only when I have a cold so I know it is associated with breathing through my mouth and not my nose and isnt an illness.

My husband snores very loudly. He catches himself at times. With him being tired all the time. i wouldn't doubt if he has some type of sleeping disorder. But my husband refuses to go to the doctor.

I haven't experienced this snoring thing yet, because I think I am more aware of it when I go to sleep. I tested this to myself when I'm asleep by setting up a videocam while I'm sleeping and nothing happened while I was sleeping. Though I don't have a final conclusion on this kind of disorder, I still consider this as a defect to those who acquires this sleeping disorder..
