I came across that phrase while reading responses to another discussion... an internet coven... what a novel idea... i've joined b4 to some internet groups with other wiccans but I never got the coven feeling in it. How many of you are in internet covens and do you find that it helps??
I'm a solopractioning kitchenwitch. There are a few other practising wicca in my town. One has been wonderful and so very helpful to me as I followed my way along the path but I'm not sure I'd refer to us as an actual coven.

Hi imsilver, I don't really think an internet coven would work, it's great as a communication point and would have a great friendly atmosphere where you could feel at home asking questions but it wouldn't be the same?!? I'm a sole practicer by choice as I feel some of my ideas clash with many others especially wiccan. I have a good few friends who pratice who give me advice, I think as long as you are happy as you are thats all that matters?

an iternet coven for some might be a good place to share ideas and certian ideas on the craft but ther are issues that can not be handeled by such a group if there is a member in need of personal one on one conversation who is there for them and also how is ritual held you can't among members rightly cast a circle around the entire world and in my oppinion a coven i a group of people who gather together during the times appointed to honor the gods and goddess's and an internet group may not be able to do that if you are a solotary practicioner and have friends to guide you that is good keep working with them as for the internet it is a good resource guide and meeting place for those of us on this path but as for ritual continue the path you have been following and ask for guidence when need from those around you

I am a member of an internet coven. I have found it to be helpfull to me to learn more about Wicca and to have a support group as well. To perform rituels we use an internet chat to interact with eachother. I am still learning the craft and to my knowledge there are not any other Wiccans, or even Pagans in my area so for me an internet coven is my only tool to connect with others with like minds who are willing to teach me the things I need to know.
Hope this helps.

Whether solitary or involved in a group=coven, you can find loads of information and contacts through the wonders of the web. Wiccan being creative like they are makes it no surprise that an online coven could be formed. The online version may not be for you, you know we are all different in our values, views and beliefs. So thanks for bringing this to our attention. It is actually pretty interesting.

That's a great idea! I'd like to have someone I can confide itno, as there are not many people here who practice witchcraft because of the misconceptions they believe about the craft.

I can understand not getting that coven feeling with online groups. but I have yet to have any of the feeling that I associate with the craft, in the newer versions of wicca.
I find that way too many are afriad of casting spells, working in the gray...things that should be second nature to most of the practicioners I started out with. Wicca, to me, has become nothing more than a way for a few people to try to make themselves different from others.
I have heard people say they are witches but are christian. Those two things are incompatible, but now people have manages to find a way to hide and blend in and they dishonor the craft with their claims to be practioners, in my eyes.

I do not think that it would be the same feeling as you would get from an actual coven... I had a lot of help growing in the religion, but I feel closer to the personal aspect of covens and the closeness that you get from gathering with them.. I also feel that there is no point in doing something that would not be useful to the practice in your aspect of the belief..
