You might even lose weight. Stop eating out. Admit it, food cooked at home is more to your taste, and is healthier. Try keeping track for one month of what you spend on out to eat food, multiply that by 12, and see what you could save just doing this one thing. Studies show that women who eat out eat at least 300 more calories per meal. Times twelve, you lose a pound, if you do not eat that restaurant meal. How about it?

That is exactly right. It can let you spend your lunch hour doing more than just going somewhere, eating, then rushing back.

That is so right! Especially fast food, fast food is really pretty bad for you, and is also full of calories *laugh* I've also found that you can save a *lot* of calories per day simply by cutting caloric drinks out of your meals. Either drik diet soda, tea, or water. Most other drinks, you're getting at least a couple hundred calories if you're drinking much at all, and it all adds up majorly over the span of a week! I lost a good 60-70 pounds just by eating healthier and exercise. Eating out at restaurants wasn't really a problem because my family hasn't done much of that in years. But I agree, cutting that out of one's lifestyle helps majorly!! ^_^

Doesn't it depend on where and how often you eat out? I have not been inside a burger or fast food joint in at least 15 years. I don't like McD, Wendy, or any of them. However, I love a good sushi restaurant, although do not indulge even once a month because my budget is tight. However, the meal is certainly healthy and not loaded with fat and calories! Even when not eating sushi, I usually choose seafood and vegetables when eating out.

Yeah I agree totally with you. Most of the time I cook at home together with my brother.. (well mostly he cooked :P) and that saves up a lot of our grocery money.. and also we can have food that is suitable for our taste etc2..
I spend about 50 Australian dollars for two of us in grocery per week.. but if i eat out one meal will costs us about 8-12 AUD per person.. imagine that!! eheheheh
It is also healthier because I know what ingredient we use and everything else :)

This is very true. Since my husband went overseas almost four months ago, I have only eaten out once, and I've saved a ton of money. I also feel a lot healthier, knowing exactly what is in the food I prepare.

I always prefer eating home cooked food as it is simple wholesome meal that is nutritous that freshly cooked hot, spicy with exact ingredients one likes. It is tasty, hot, and contains, cereals like chapptis, pulses, cooked vegetables, rice, yoghurt, indian curries, lot of salad,... besides it doesn't cost that much and there is less wastage.
I feel home cooked is more healthy as we can have diet exactly made depending on amount of calories we require and can be made with less fat, less oil, less calories. Moroever raw materials, ingredients are not that fresh as we get in homes. Moreover hygiene can problem outside. And most imortantly it doesn't costr that much to cook in one's home.

More often than not I only eat food cooked at home. Not only for economical reasons but also it is cleaner.Plus I enjoy eating what I cook.Actually when we cook the state/mood that we have when we are cooking our food goes into the food. And so if I cook,I cook in happiness. We can't demand that outside.

I never thought of it that way, but you are right, the love and care and joy we put in our meals makes it more nourishing to our soul.

I agree. My husband and I rarely eat out. When we do, it's somewhere that offers lots of salads and vegetarian options. I cook most nights and I like knowing exactly what's in my food. I enjoy creating tasty and healthy meals that I know are made with fresh ingredients.

its a very good calculation, its always good to eat at home, but now a days we are so much running behind making maney and hv less time to cook all the meals at home and just drop down to a restaurant and eat what is available there .........ready food, if u try to spend a little time in kitchen and cook u will save money and the most valuable health. and satisfaction is addon advantage.

I completely agree. You can save a ton of money by eating at home and a ton of calories. Restaurant portions are usually way too bif anyway. Has anyone eaten at the Cheesecake Factory? I can make at least three meals out of that plate.
I must admit though, on days when I've worked really late and am really tired, there's nothing stoppong me from getting take-out.

I can't believe the amount of money we've saved by not eating out for a month. Between the lattes, trips for fast food or pizza delivery we used to spend about twice what we do now on groceries. My family even said they think we're eating better (tasting) meals. It didn't hurt that I made them all watch a gross special on tainted food at restaurants. They were so creeped out they didn't want to go out any more.

That bad food is in the back of my mind often. That was a great strategy, (the video) and probably contributes a lot to our health situations, even if we do not get a full blown illness from it. Almost every time we eat out either one of us or the other seems to have a stomache disorder.javascript:__doPostBack('ctl00$cphMainContent$lbStart','')

We can get healthy choices at restaurants, I know. And we love to celebrate with food. Often my discussions are pointed at my own bad habits, more than at anyone else's. I do not have much luck losing weight unless I limit eating out. We have found that it is almost inevitable when we eat out certain places we take in more fats than we are used to and either my husband or myself gets an intestinal commplaint. We have a lovely bed and breakfast we go to on very special occassions, food is excellent, appropriate portions, homemade from scratch. It is the everyday, hit the buffet that is so often where we overeat. Thanks for all the responses so far.

We only eat out about once a year on a special occasion, so giving that up isnt going to make any difference to us I'm afraid. In my case, to lose any weight I need to up my excercise amounts. But in principle I agree with you, a lot of people do seem to eat fast food at lunchtimes and that can't be good for heir purses or their waistlines over the weeks.

true, but even at home if you eat all the time and fried items can also lead to more calories
