Do you remember the nice old movies? The likes of Tarzan, The Three Stooges, The Ten Commandments, etc.? What do you think of them compared to the movies of today?
In spite the modern technology used in current movies, I seem to like the old movies better. No violence, no foul language, no indecent exposures, just good old pleasant entertainment for the young and the old. Am I being too conservative?

I love the old movies! It's weird these days because I don't recognize many of the actors. The old movies were better made, the acting was better. The old ones were not so into the special effects, they were more into the plot and the acting ability of the actors.

I don't think you're being too conservative, my favourite was the wizard of oz, and it always brings back special childhood memories. I think possibly the reason why is because so many films are made these days, not a day goes by when a new film doesn't come out. Way back then they didn't have the special effects to help them so they had to do their best with what they had. Maybe the films you have mentioned link back to good memories for you to and that's why you like them better?

I like the old movies not only because of good old memories but because they were more wholesome and the actors and actresses were really good.

I don't think you're being too consertative. I have often said that the old movies are much better. I have grandchildren whose ages range from 1 to 14 and if there is an old film on, I can be confident that all three of them can watch without me having to look first and censor.

That's right -- the movies were quite wholesome then, even the kissing scenes if any at all.

Yeah, back in those days, actors were all around ENTERTAINERS. I mean, look at James Cagney. In Yankee Doodle Dandy, he sang, danced, and acted. Even my husband will admit his favorite movie is "Strawberry Blonde". And all the others, like Casablanca, Hatari (and John Wayne REALLY did those stunts)the list could go on and on.

I do remember the nice old movies. Like Frank Capra ones, or any of the other famouse directors and producers would make. I loved the old musicals too, didn't you? These days, everyone wants to make a quick buck and so they add in violence and as much special effects to keep you from realizing that there is very little if any plot.

Hi! I think older movies are much better than what's being presented currently. I see very few new movies just because they aren't really very good. I'd much rather watch something I've already seen and know I'll enjoy. :-)

Those old movies had more class, the people dressed so nicely. They had such talent to convey the emotions before sound became the norm. The sets were so believable and now only done with computer magic. The stories left things to the imagination and not only played out in front of you and not challenging you. Can't say you are too conservative, you just like things a bit on your own terms. We are friends I prefer scary movies. Wouldn't have known that would you? :)

When i was a kid in the late 1950's, early 1960's, there was a TV station that showed B&W movies from the 1930's and 1940's. I LOVED those things and the old stars - Tyrone Power and Hedy Lamar were two favorites...Those were classics and I know they've been restored but where are they? You can't buy most of them on DVD and you can't watch them on TV anymore. The kids today don't know what they are missing.

I watched their old videos. I'm only 30 and yes I like them too. It's pure entertainment and talent. But scifi movies I prefer nowadays productions like War of the Worlds and StarTrek. It just seems more futuristic than the old ones

there's nothing wrong with being conservative. i have seen tarzan, grease, footloose and breakfast club. for others, these movies may seem boring. honestly, i find them boring while watching the first few parts. but, later on, the story is really interesting! after watching those movies, i felt that they are worth my time. and i love watching them over and over again.

True. Modern music is too loud, more like noise than music, with a few exceptions just like with movies.

In my country films, the old movies has the good information, good philosophy and tips to go to right path in life...But the todays movies are not so good when compared to old movies...Also they introduce the "Violence" too much than old movies. The musics are nice in todays upcoming movies...

I agree with you. It is not only the movies that have lost their charm, but almost in every field we find that quality of grace has decreased. The songs are no more sweet, but much noisy, the movies are more violent, internet has no limitations. The adverse effect of all this is also effecting our pattern of living, our social life, our society. Well , we are old now, it is time for young generation and their likings. We can stay with our old melodies.
take care.
