Are you 'closer' to your DAD or your MOM?

I'm much closer to my mom than my dad. I love my dad and respect his opinion, but he's always been more of an authority figure and scarier to me. I'm 37 and there's things I still don't want to tell him. I know that's a shame, but true. I know I can tell my mother anything and she won't fly off the handle. She's more a voice of reason when I need it too.

I see. It is good to know that someone your age still listens to their parents. That's sooo nice. =) Most people tend to forget about their parents once that have their own families. =/ I am closer to my Mom as well. =)

With age has come an understading that my mom really does have all the answers LOL. Well, maybe not all of them, but at least she's a good listener and helps me work through things when I'm having problems. I've also noticed that as my children get older they think I know more. My 18 yr old thinks I know more now than she did when she was 16. I think we just need that sounding board sometimes and we know we can trust our parents not to sit in judgement over us when we use them as one.

I totally agree. People do start to understand what older people tell them once they grow up themselves. I used to have daily arguments with my Dad when I was around 15 or so, but once I got a bit older, I can now truly understand what he was saying before. =)

In my case it depends on the topic. Sometimes for certain things i find it more natural to go to mom to talk, and others i go to dad. Anyway i have a pretty good relationship with both so i am sure i would have them for anything i wanted to talk about if needed.

I see. That's nice. I tend to go to my Mom more often than my Dad on just about anything. My Dad is great too but I tend to almost go to my Mom impulsively. =)

I am closer to my dad. I am more of a tomboy so I spent a lot of time with my dad playing sprots when I was growing up. Now we do a lot of sport related things together.
I have a twin sister and she is closer to my mom because she is more girly than I am.
I love both my parents very much and now that I ma older I am getting closer with my mom. In fact I helped my mom recover from knee surgery and that really brought us closer.

I was a daddy's girl when I was a kid because my dad and I lived alone together. When I went to the states I left my dad and was with my mom for years. It was only lately that I've been close to my mom maybe because she is taking care of me now and helping me out. I do love both of them and can pretty much tell them what I want, I'm afraid of my mom though when she gets mad.

I see.. That's unusual. =) Usually, daughters grow closer to their Moms more than their Dads (and sons grow closer to their Dads than their Moms). Well, I'm glad that it worked for you. And now, you are enjoying the best of both worlds. =) That's soooo nice. =)

i believe that too. In my case, I should be closer to my Dad but it turned out that I am more comfortable to talk with my Mom. I can talk with my Dad about anything but I feel like I can 'open up' better when it is my Mom whom I am talking to.
"I always believe that mother knows best." - Agreed.

Why is that? You chose to be distant from them? Isn't that a bit lonely? =/
