I received this from a dear friend and thought I would share it with you.
WET PANTS
Come with me to a third grade classroom.....
There is a nine-year-old kid sitting at his desk and all of a sudden, there is a puddle between his feet and the front of his pants are wet. He thinks his heart is going to stop because he cannot possibly imagine how this has happened.
It's never happened before, and he knows that when the boys find out he will never hear the end of it. When the girls find out, they'll never speak to him again as long as he lives.
The boy believes his heart is going to stop; he puts his head down and prays this prayer, "Dear God, this is an emergency! I need help now! Five minutes from now I'm dead meat." He looks up from his prayer and here comes the teacher with a look in her eyes that says he has been discovered. As the teacher is walking toward him, a classmate named Susie is carrying a goldfish bowl that is filled with water. Susie trips in front of the teacher and inexplicably dumps the bowl of water in the boy's lap.
The boy pretends to be angry, but all the while is saying to himself, "Thank you, Lord! Thank you, Lord!"
Now all of a sudden, instead of being the object of ridicule, the boy is the object of sympathy. The teacher rushes him downstairs and gives him gym shorts to put on while his pants dry out. All the other children are on their hands and knees cleaning up around his desk. The sympathy is wonderful. But as life would have it, the ridicule that should have been his has been transferred to someone else - Susie.
She tries to help, but they tell her to get out. You've done enough, you klutz!"
Finally, at the end of the day, as they are waiting for the bus, the boy walks over to Susie and whispers, "You did that on purpose, didn't you?"
Susie whispers back, "I wet my pants once too."
May God help us see the opportunities that are always around us to do good.
Remember.....Just going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in your garage makes you a car.
I not only love the story --- I love this last quote!!

This is a wonderful story of a christian acting like one. The little girl was very thoughtful and loving to transfer the ridicule to herself. In third grade kids are usually not very careing with each other. Thanks for sharing and reminding us what a christian is supposed to do.

That is such a sweet story and it brings back memories of second grade, for me. My teacher wouldn't let me go to the bathroom and I hadn't quite learned how to hold so long between breaks. I wet my brand new coat and my mom was really unhappy, more with the teacher for not letting me go to the bathroom than with me. I was in good company though, and was not made fun of because several of the others had done the same thing at one time or other that year because the teacher didn't think it necessary to let us go to the rest room. Funny how you never forget those things.

Some of those teachers from the years we went to school certainly were tough caribe, and of course often the child suffered as a consequence. "Lucky" for you that many others were in the same situation, and your mother was right to be unhappy with the teacher.
You are right that some things that happen when we are children never leave our memories, although they lay dormant sometimes. Thanks for contributing to the discussion caribe. :)

I have heard that story before, but this is the first time I heard the quote at the end. They are both great!
That empathy and compassion in a small child is something to be admired and emulated. I think this story is really quite inspiring and I thank you for bringing it back to mind!

Such a nice story ossie and quick thinking from the young girl made this lads life at school slightly easier! A brave thing for her to do really but she was understanding of his situation and acted on it! Well done!

What a wonderful story! And what a wonderful little girl! To be sympathetic and understanding instead of for once being on the side of the ones who make fun...how great! As for the quote...you must like Joyce Meyers...she says that all of the time! LOL

Yes it is a great story estherlou, which is why I decided to share it with others. Perhaps of more adults were like this wonderful little girl, then we would have a better world all around. I do like the quote and depending on the circumstances use that one or another which is very similar, but meaning the same thing. :)

Ossie, that reminds me of a very old song, "Little Things Mean a Lot". It's the little things that we can do for each other that mean so much. I, too, loved the story and the last quote. Thanks so much for sharing.

Oh this is a wonderful story and opne i rarely see now days of kids using the gift of decenment :) thank you for making me smile , and yea the quate at the end is great too we have a phrase like that down south about just cause you were born in the south dont really make you a southerner ( lol cause its a way of life ;) ) but i think this one could also be used for our kid that are born and raised in church so i guess ill try to spin it off to give parents and kids a better understanding ;)
Being born and raised in church dosent make you a christian ... after all if a cat had kittens in the oven we wouldnt call them biskits now would we ?
lol I hope that makes sense

What an awesome story! Kids can be so sweet or so cruel. It's wonderful to have such a great friend who will have your back.
I too love that last quote. Too many people think that just because they go to church means they are a Christian. They need to act like a Christian too. I guess Christianity is a state of mind too. Through good acts you will earn your place in heaven. I try to perform random acts of kindness because you never know when you will need one too.

Yes it is a very inspirational story, and many people could learn a lesson from young Susie. I believe that if we can help someone who is really in need, we are being a good Christian (or whatever religion we follow). Helping people for no special reward but because it is the right thing to do, and maybe one day if we are ever in need of help someone will be there for us.
Thanks very much Trace for contribution to this discussion. :)

There are so many ways really that God is doing but we do not understand. I have experienced so many unbelievable but not impossible incidents. We just don't realize how God loves us and do His own ways to take care of us. We can never count the blessings that God bestows to us. Very nice story. I hope people would understand.

I don't have word to say how good the story is. From these small child of the story we can learn big thing. If every one in this world become so helpful and keep believe in GOD, nothing will happen to be worried in our society.

Oh Ossie, this is a very good story thank you so much for sharing this with us, and also by going to church does not mean that you are a christian as a lot of people that go to church these days are hibercrites, and thankfully to Susie this boy did not have to suffer shame for what he had accidently done as it could happen to anyone.

what a touching story. I have had a similar experience...though it wasnt with wetting myself lol! Its the simplest things that make the biggest difference, and to me that is what god is about, gentle kindness and acts of mercy rather than giant miracles and shows of power.

this is really a very inspiring story... we adult sometimes should be ashamed of ourselves because we can't do the good deeds like what children can do to their friends... especially when we claimed ourselves as a christian... love should be our symbol and we should show it by our action... not only talk... thanks for sharing this story with us... it reminds me again what kind of person i should be in this world...

Every now and then you run across a story that you just want to share with some folks. I generally hate the stuff that gets forwarded to me and almost never pass them on. But I absolutely love this story and think I'll send it to my sister. Thanks for sharing this.
P.S. I also love the last quote, also.

You must definately send it on to your sister and any others you think might be interested. I am a little bit like you in that often I receive emails from people I know and they end up in the trash. I have a couple of special friends though who find the little gems like this one, and I do like to share them. It is good that you like the last quote and I believe it is just so true. :)

This is amazing. It shows compassion towards fellow man even at such a young age. If only more people would take someone else's pain away...just maybe it would all be ok.
