Do you count calories with eveything you eat? I have never been very good at counting calories and I am not even sure if that helps. I do watch what I eat and try to stay away from sugar, flour made goods, and starches. Do the calories really make a difference? How do you even know how many to eat and how many not to eat. You can't go by age, because all people burn calories differently. My job keeps me very sedentary all day and then when I get off of my job I am still not very active. If you go by how many calories I burn I would need to only consume about 10 per day. LOL So this can't be the answer either.

Yes, you do need to count calories. Its the most effective way to loose weight. Weight loss translates to calories consumed versus calories burned. You need to burn more than you consume. You burn calories each time you do anything, from running a matharon to breathing. For normal day to day living, men need 2000 calories, and women need 1500. If you are active, you should consume more. However if you want to loose weight then this will be harder. Exersize also burns calories. You should do 30 minutes of cardio vascular exersize 3 times week. 30 minutes of brisk walking will burn just over 150 calories.

But this is the problem .. I put on weight if I eat anything more than about 1000 calories .. to actually lose wieght I need to go below 700 calories .. and I know that's correct as I have to go to the hospital dietician .. the problem is eating so low an amount of calories for any length of time doesn't give me all the necessary proteins and body building/repairing things I need .. And the chief thing I am told over and over is DO NOT count calories .. but DO keep an eye on the fats in the foods you eat ... Sigh and if I could only do 10 minutes of slow walking I'd be happy never mind 30 minutes of brisk walking .. my disabilities haven't let me do that for at least 10 years ...

It does and then you can control what your intake is. It is very important to know how much you should be eating and what types of calories you are consuming

No I have never counted Calories as I found it did not help at all a few Years back but then People that did it did actually help them so I think everyone is different in their own way I also believe that different Diets work on some People and not on others

I agree, they do not help me or at least it seems that way. A diet that works for me does not always work for my friends. So i don't really count calories as much as i watch what I eat.

All that counting and tallying up .. flippin' 'eck by the time I'd finshed counting it all up I;d have eaten the lot anyway hahaha !!! And like you I can't believe that all men and woman need thee same amount of calories .. when I was in hospital once they put me on what was supposed to be a 'very low calorie' diet .. 1500 calories for goodness sakes .. I tried to tell them I didn't eat that much even when I wasn't on a diet but they wouldn't listen .. So surprise surprise I put ON 7lbs in the first week and another 6lbs in the second week .. so now I was a whole stone heavier than I had started ... they eventually brought the number of calories down to 500 and that's what I was supposed to eat .. only the chefs couldn't make me enough food with that low an amount of calories .. so they all gave up ..

I don't count calories, but I do make sure that what I eat isn't fatty and that my meals are balanced. I have fruit, whole wheat toast, peanut butter and milk for breakfast... there's all 4 groups, and not much food. I have something light.. like a no fat chicken salad with light dressing for lunch, and some V8 juice.. it's all 4 groups and it's very healty. Plan your meals like that. Don't count calories, or the amount that you burn.. just eat right and exercise for 30 minutes a day.. and you'll be a lot happier.

Well i don't count calories as i don't have any inclination for it. As i broadly know the healthy ways of living and am also looking for newer ways, ideas for being healthy too. I feel that one should eat healthy well balance diet that contains whole grains, cereals, pulses, yoghurt,, vegetables. one should eat nuts and fruits for snacks. I don't eat junk food & aerated drinks as it has zero nutrition and lot of calories. Besides i like to be active go for walks, do exercises, stretching, yoga, meditation, aerobics, besdies playing outdoor sports like tennis also helps. By taking stairs instead of lifts, of walking to local stores insteading of going incar also helps.

When you eat healthy, you don't have to count calories. Make sure you have 5 servings of fruits and vegie. I think I am very good person for advice, because my weight is the same for the last 30 years. I eat what I want to eat, but always make sure I eat my daily fruits and vegie recomendation. I always use sugar for my coffee and tea:)

This is a problem for me. I do not like any kinds of fruit. I love veggies though. I wish I could eat fruits, maybe a fruit supplement pill would work just the same?

they do help in some ways but they are never that accurate so do a little tolerance for some deviations. for me i just do estimates though, it is too tedious too look up the caloric value of everything you eat. best way is to observe yourself though if you get bigger within the week so you might have to adjust your diet accordingly for the next week. i guess everyone just needs to have an idea of how much something could get you fat so that they would be watchful of what they eat.

Well, you have already said it yourself. Your life is sedentary which means that your intake of calories should also be minimal. I usually don't count the calories that I eat but I try my best to consume foods that are of least calories and are also healthy, I also make it a point to go to the gym everyday to lose at least some calories that I have consumed during the day.

I have done wieght watchers, if I exercise everyday, I found I can lose about a pound a week using their point system. It is easier then counting calories. I found then 1200 works for me to lose slowly, I lift wieghts and do 40 minutes cardio at least 5 days a week.

yes i agree to your point that it is difficult to count the calories everytime we eat and sedentary jobs make it more difficult, however what i do is as u said keep a check on what we eat and little bit of excerise in day to day work. like getting down a lane/block before my house so i can walk etc

In my opinion, counting calories is one of the oldest and still the BEST way to control your weight. It works better than every fad diet ever invented.

Determining your body's needs, and balancing your dietary budget as you would your checkbook, can not only assist you in your quest to melt away those surplus pounds, but can also help you build some healthy habits along the way. Dietitians, nutritionists, and health professionals agree that calorie counting helps to increase your knowledge and awareness of what's in the foods you eat, and makes you conscious of what your body really needs. It also helps you focus on the amount of food you eat which in turn improves your understanding of portion control. But the calorie "count down" is not as simple as it sounds. So, understand it well before you try.

Hi this could be serious because I'll say it will make me to gain tension in my pocket, like as of bearing of a too little bomb in hand, and I really knocking it. Though it will cause me some things, but think rather than making teasing mind a free mind will always reduce calories.
