I watched the most awesome show of Best places to find cash and treasures....and if you live in florida I have a treat for you!
located on the peace river in arcadia florida.
At this river you can find prehistoric Magalodon shark teeth....they can range in price. for a 7 inch tooth and excellent shape with all enamel can fetch you $20,000 dollars or more!
I'm like omg! A new treasure adventure. it's pobally about 1 hour from my home and my husband and I are planning a trip there. Maybe I will get lucky! :)
we are going to build our equiment and try our luck at this! :) hoping to find something for my collection. :)
thought I would share! :)

I wish you a lot of luck! Please let us know if you find anything. Perhaps you will find arrowheads and other things, as well as shark teeth. Please remember that the river has probably changed course over the years and you may find things a little way from the river.

Yes, I have heard of people pulling arrowhead out of this river and many of florida rivers. It's possible to find these things as well as other artifacts.

I'll have to look that up. I live in the middle of the state, so hopefully it won't be too far from me. I can't recall where Arcadia is located. But I love taking little day or weekend trips, and this sounds like fun.

Sounds like a lot of fun. These type of places are cropping up all over now...some to search for gemstones, some for special rocks, some for other things. There was a show on TLC that tells about going around hunting for such treasures. I can't remember the name of it, but it's a cool show.
Good luck.

Hehe...I love it when people in Florida claim that it's cold in the winter. :) It was snowing up here last week!
My brother lives in Florida. I should tell him about it. Thank you!

well it's a differnet kind of cold, it's a wet cold that feels just as bad a snow. It's a damp cold, that feels like it's cutting through you when the wind blows. This is beacuse of the oceans on both sides. I have been in the snaow and this is better than a wet cold, I can handle that much better! :)

Hey Krissy! I've been to the Peace River a few times. That's a great area for so many things. We used to go up there for Mud races when I was a kid. (I grew up in LaBelle, FL)
I watched that same show last night. I have my Tivo programed to record it.

well the reason there is so much in this river is because it was dredged and mined for phosphate, they dumped all the fossils back into the river, errosion has also took it's toll on this river...There is still plenty left! Tell the experts there is nothing left, they will laugh at you!

and the best part of hunting fossil shark teeth, you don't need a fossil hunting permit for them! :)

Hello - I have been there. I have found some big teeth - but nothing HUGE! I just saw something on the local news about the Peace River and guided digs. They really want you to donate any valuable teeth to the museums to preserve Florida history. I have probably 50 teeth of various sizes.

That sounds like so much fun. This is a good time of year to think about vacations as far as I am concerned. I am sick of snow. I am saving up my PayPal for something great. Luck to you in your treasure hunt.
