Remember cassette tapes?

While searching through my cupboard, I found 12 cassette tapes in this room. They are NKOTB's christmas album, tommy page's paintings in my mind, robert miles' children amongst others. The cassettes were covered with a layer of dust. I haven't seen them in ages let alone hear them. I am pretty sure I have more in the house since I've always been a fan of buying cassettes when i was younger and I don't remember throwing them away. Since CDs, I don't think anyone uses cassettes anymore, atleast not here. It's amazing how things tend to add up. What about you? Got any cassettes or anything obsolete lying around?

I don't have any cassette tapes laying around anymore, I lost my record collection, and cassette tapes in a flodd. But how about this, do you remember 8 track tapes, 45 rpm records, 33 1/3 rpm records, or even the old 78 rpm records?

I'm so sorry to hear about that. Floods are devastating. Parts of Malaysia are still flooded due to the recent heavy downpours all over the country. 8 track tapes and all those records? not quite. I'm not that old :P hehe

Uh...This is an accident right? You didn't reply 4 times intentionally right? lol Okay, so what do you do with them? Do you still listen to them? Don't they go all moldy?

LOL Yeah I know. I guessed that you didn't do it intentionally lol. You kept the tapes in good condition?! they're still working? I wish mine were. I kinda wanna listen to Tommy Page again. I think I'll go download paintings in my mind now lol

We still have many cassette tapes and play them quite often, especially in the car/truck. We don't have a cd player in our vehicles, so we rely on good old fashioned cassettes. I can really tell a difference in the sound quality though. CD's are much crisper and cleaner.

Yeah, I was just saying on another comment how I was able to buy a stereo cassette deck for my truck with auto reverse that has made listing to tapes easier. I have friends with miscle cars that will only listen to tapes from the period of their particular car. We get new and used cassettes at The Music Locator from their list of cassetes, ... http://www.themusiclocator.com ... but they can also find cassettes that they do not have themselves from other sources.

I still have. Those cassettes i bought long time ago when i was a little younger. Probably between age 11-15. Since CD and DVD much more easier to be used, i seldom use cassettes tape anymore. I think life expand of magnetic tape is longer than CD, even its used many times.

I'm running out of words to comment. Feeling a little braindead. So I'll rank all of you a + just for replying. But you're right crystal2005. Magnetic tapes just don't cut it anymore.

Haha I definitely would not know how to convert those songs into CD. I counted 12 casettes in total and threw them away a few hours ago.

The problem with converting them to CD is the quality is really low and takes more time than it is worth. I personally would look to download them and burn a CD instead.

I definitely have cassettes laying around my house. I have Debbie Gibson, Soul Asylum, C&C Music Factory, 4 Non Blondes heh. I also still have some 45s at home. Bangles, madonna, etc... I feel like one day CDs will be out of date too.

Wow, those songs sure brings back memories! Runaway Train from Soul Asylum is my favourite song of all time. There's just something sad about that song that I like very much.

i still have a bunch of cassette tapes here in the house. i kept them in a place where i feel like they are safe. most of my collections are of those from disney's since i love disney songs most of all. but when i tried to play them again last december, they don't play that nice anymore no matter how i had it cleaned. so, they will just serve as a collection for me.

Cassette tape - This is why cassettes died.
Yeah I remember cassette tapes - those squared up things with the film running through them. lol. Its kinda funny now there is cds and cassettes just look funny but I got a few. I used to buy blanks back in the day and just record songs from the radio and stuff. My father still has a whole cassette bag full of them but he never plays them cause he has a cd deck. How about dvds? It put a nice saying out of existense - Remember "Please be kind. Rewind" - when you rented a VHS?

hahah I LOOOOVVE that pic of the cassette tape. Reminds me of my Walkman From Hell. Everytime I put a cassette into it, it eats up all the magnetic strips. Always makes me feel that the cassette's been gutted!

I still have some cassettes laying around somewhere. Actually, I think they are in my shed in my backyard right now. LOL I have not listened to a cassette in a long time as I only listen to cds now. Cassette tapes are ancient now but am sure there are still people out there that listen to them either in their car or at home.

A huge box of cassettes. What's makes it funny is some of them aren't labeled so when I get bored I go through the box and see what's on them. I found one from years ago with my friends and I singing to Culture Club. That is so sad to admit publiclly. I have tons of VHS and PAL format tapes from years ago too. The problem is the PAL player that I have is wired for a euro power supply, not the USA. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

In my country, there is several people still using cassete, especially the oldies2 songs that hear by peoples arround 60 years old. some of their songs still not mastered or they can't find the cds version, so they still use the old cassete tapes. wow NKOTB hehehehe didn't it the first boysband that explode internationally ?

I have a cassette player too. It comes with the mini hi-fi hehehe. can't get rid of it. I threw the tapes out mainly because they were all moldy. The strip was all dotted with greenish little things. I don't know how to clean it, so I threw it out. Otherwise I'd be listening to NKOTB right now. Oh wait, I am. I downloaded "I'll be loving you" bwahahaha

I remember cassette tapes and still have some. They make me feel old but I still listen to them and enjoy them. I am afraid because they are old the tape will break and then the cassette is lost forever.

I still have a walkman with me. I prefer my walkman to a cd player because I had bought that walkman with my own money. It is one of the most cherished items in my house. I have at least 50 casettes and I hear them regularly.

I dont think I have any more cassete tapes laying around anywhere because I think I got rid of them by now, but I do have VCR tapes which I consider now to be obsolete as well. I dont even think you can buy a VCR anymore, and I am pretty sure the same goes for cassete tapes.
