I don't really know why they are so popular. I used to have a xanga back in high school. I think I made one because a few other of my friends did it and it was kind of cool to look at each other's public journal. Then a lot of people from my school got them and it was pretty fun reading about everyone's life. The fad soon ended though and now I don't even know anyone that still uses a xanga or livejournal

It is a way for people to chat to other people online. This site is sort of like a blog and it is very popular. It's just a way for people with similar interets to get together online and "hang out" in a way. It is just like a website that is a social event such as a party. You can talk with people and have fun while doing it. That is why it is so popular.

I am going to sound so stubid here but I still have no idea what a blog is lol xx

To be honest, I have no idea why people are so hooked on that. I am not into it myself at all. I think it is a waste of my time.

i have two blogs, but it's a long time that I don't write anything because I have no time. Why do people use blogs? Both the reasons you suggest. Blog is a way to meet new people and also to tell about our desires, problems, anxietis and so on. I don't think it's a waste of time, blog is a way to communicate, and to me, if there is a possibility to communicate it is never a waste of time. Don't you think?

I started blogging when I moved my three children accross the ocean and away from their friends and - more importantly - thier grandparents. It's been a great way to keep everyone updated on how we are doing, give them some laughs about our adjustment to another country, and share pictures. I have set up four blogs right now to be able to get into some paid blogging sites. Currently I have been approved for two sites and I am waiting another 10 days for my blogs to be old enough to get approved into two more sites. I figured why not get paid for something that I enjoy to do anyway.

I used to have a blog but got bored with it. I guess some people have on to update others on their life, some need to be the center of attention. I haven't updated my blog in a year or more, I probably don't even remember the password LOL

I may appear silly but i still am unsure what a blog is, how to go about it or how to make money from it!

Most people use blogs to make money. It is a nice way to suplement you income.

Seems I read somewhere that bloggers make just enough to clear costs. Is that true or can you make descent money. I have a free one set up at blogger. I just haven't done anything with it yet. How would folks know to even go there. I mean if everyone knows it is to make money then what is the motivation to even visit?

I use blogs to basically vent out. Stuff about my day, my life. Opinions about the news, gossip. It's a place to write about what you care about.
