How much do you spend on books in a month? Do you buy mostly new or used books? From a store or online? I buy most of my books from used book stores, and spend about $25 a month.

I pick up most of my books at the thrift store for 20 cents a piece :) Very rarely will I buy a book brand new.. unless it's something that I really really really want.. and even then I feel much better about buying it if it has a sale sticker on it :) I probably spend way too much on books even at 20 cents a piece.. lol.. I can't walk past the thrift store without going in and browsing through their books and coming out with an armful. And this happens probably every second day or so. Some I buy for my collections and others I just pick up,read, and pass on to someone else or take back to the thrift store.

I love thrift stores and second-hand stores. And garage sales! If you can get there before the agents from bookstores pick things over you can get some great deals from people trying to get rid of what they consider to be junk. About the only time I spend full price for a book is if somebody gives me a bookstore gift card for Christmas or a birthday.

I definitely, definitely agree... I have over a thousand books, so if I bought them all at full price, I would have no money for rent :) I typically buy from flea markets, library sales and goodwill, places where you can get paperbacks at 5/ $1.00 and hardcovers from $0.50 to $2.00.

I don't really have a set amount that I spend on books. Some months it could be $100 and others nothing. It depends on if I can find anything interesting to me or not. I buy a lot of my books from half.com, they ususally have really good prices and if you buy fro the same seller you get a discount on shipping too.

I've never bought a book online. How much do you have to buy to make it worth paying for shipping?

I borrow my books from the library. I go through about 6 books every two weeks. I used to go through more, but I am more active right now. During the summer, I buy books at garage sales so I have books for the weather I cannot get out in.

I used to spend $20/month for books. I would either buy new ones or used books. I cut off my spending until I bought a pocket pc and dowload ebooks instead. Tons of free ebooks are available online. I have downloaded hundreds of them and saved it into the disc. The classics that are also available in the bookstores can also be stored as an ebook so I really saved a lot of money.

I'd like to spend around 25$ a month on books. As is, I spend about 10$ every couple of months. I just don't have enough cash to afford the things I need, much less the things I want.

I buy mostly audio books from my own store. (AudioBooksCorner-dot-com). The amount varies quite a bit, sometimes it's just $30 soemtimes it can go up to $100 to $120, listening to about 4 to 6 books every month. I guess on average it's more like $40 to $50 / month.

Some months I don't buy any books. Some months I spend $25-$100. I am part of the Borders Rewards Program (it's free to join). Every time you spend $50 in a month you get a Personal shopping day - where you get 10% off everything you buy all day. They also send you coupons to your email every Thursday for 20-40% off of items. And the best part is that they put 5% into an account that you can use between November and January. My brother and I share an account and split the Holiday Rewards (the 5% back).

I am like you and love used book stores, i also love ebay and thrift store and usually spend about 20 to 30 dollars a month on books. I do find that the more i am online the less i read. The last yard sale i had we even sold our set of encyclopedias because they were a couple of years old and we know we can get the info online.

Oh man, I can spend upwards of $50 on book a month. And that's getting used at hastings, walden books, and amazon. Plus I also get them at walmart and sometimes Meijer.

Around $20/month. But I splurge, so I try to avoid going inside bookstores, if I can; I'm so easily tempted, and the covers are so enticing, the blurbs so very interesting...um, yeah. :)

Currently on limited budget, so spending 25 to 30 a month or less, buying used, and online, and at stores, when I have extra funds I spend more, I also go to library as well.
