What do you think would be the most contriversal discussion you could start?

The war in Iraq has nothing to do with race. At least not for the Big Three. We fight not from religion or racial standpoints. Doing so clouds your judgement and prevents any possibility for success. Maybe someone could pass that on to terrorists. I understand that racism really enfuriates people, still by acknowledging racists, we validate them. The only solution is strict punishment. Disscussing racism here would be fruitless.

Hi yes there are a lot of discussions about intimate relationships on mylot, I have replied to quite a few of them actually. When it comes to religion of course there are a lot of different views on this subject as there always has been. In regards to discussion I would really talk about well that all depends normally they would be about my home, cooking, parenting or friendship one of those I would respond to.

Well, the other day I started a discussion on Christians Vs. Atheists and why a good number of Christians feel threatened by our presence in "Do you believe in God" topics.
I received a good number of replies and I was shocked that most people, Christian or otherwise were sympathetic towards the hate in general. I wasn't trying to be controversial though - someone had irked me on another forum.

Since we signed as friends I am here to support you. You do realize if this turns wicked bad we all are gonna lose some cheddah points. If it goes all crazy the censor will kill the disscuss. We all get some "-" and lose some 0.01's.

I wasn't intending to start a discussion about anything mentioned here, I just wondered what people thought contraversal topics were.

There are too many! Racism certainly would sprout a controversial discussion (or argument!) as conflict between our natural history and social inhibitions would result. The natural history of Humans would encourage us to be suspicious of anyone or anything new, as we once lived in small groups. Biological evolution however, cannot keep up with the social evolution we are currently undergoing. We now live in large groups and have more contact with eachother. This to a point requires us to to be more accepting of differences, but our neural connections conflict this social change.
Other controversial discussions would be animal ethics, whose god is the 'real' god, or if there is any god at all, political views, and various issues circulating small and secluded groups. On another note, the controversy of the 'breeding industy', where so many animals are produced that there are not enough homes. Animals are used as production lines, because people pay huge amounts just to have that little piece of paper, which really means nothing to a joyous family pet. Do them a favour and adopt a pet from the pound!

There is a difference between a popular discussion and a controversial discussion here. An example of a popular discussion that gets tons of responses is anything about child abuse or pedophilia. People always respond, but the users are overwhelmingly in agreement about the issue. I don't think that I have ever seen anyone disagreeing that these people are the worst scums on earth.
A controversial discussion also gets tons of responses, but it is more of a discussion, with people presenting different viewpoints and opinions, and sometimes getting heated. Religion is always good for that; whose religion is "right", Which "God" is the real God, and topics such as that. Racism is of course another hot topic, depending on how it's presented. It seems that anything doing with American foreign policies seems to be a great interest to Americans and the rest of the world as well. The problem is that all of these topics have been talked about incessantly. Someone needs to come up with a new "twist" to change it up a little bit.

Racism is all time hot topic on mylot. I mean the most contriversial discussion one can start on mylot is related to racism. Most of the people to respond to such topic. Starting discussions pointing a community or country, always gets lot of response.
