What do you like to snack on?

When you go to the kitchen for a snack, what kind of thing do you usually end up with? I try to eat mostly fruit, yogurt, and cheese as snacks, but sometimes it's just too tempting if we have cookies or something like that, to have them instead. However, if I am getting a snack for my son and me both, I always get a healthy one. What about you? Do you eat healthy snacks? Do you give your kids healthy snacks?

It all depends upon my mood in all honesty. When I am in a snacking mood it tends to change from time to time. I know that over the last few weeks I've been trying to turn to grabbing healthier snacks when I get hungry. Or want something to munch on at night or throughout the day. For example I usually will turn to some type of fruit if it's rather late at night. Because I find by eating foods that are a lot more fattening that all that ends up happening is after I have finished eating these type of foods.. I feel over full or crummy afterwards compared to when I eat let's say apples, or even carrots with dip. So this is the reason as to why I have been trying to eat a lot healthier when it comes to snacking. I know that personally I'd much rather feel good after I have eaten a snack, instead of eating something that just makes a person feel bloated afterwards. At least this is how I have been feeling on the matter as of recently.. Other times though I find I tend to crave chocolate from time to time. So I will either pick up some low fat chocolate yogurt or a low fat pudding.. Or sometimes I will reach for a chocolate bar from time to time. I think it's nice to treat yourself occasionally. It's not like I eat a chocolate bar each & every day so I try not to allow myself to feel guilty.. If I sometimes turn to having a piece of chocolate instead of always picking up an apple or other forms of fruit or vegetables that are much healthier then something such as chocolate. Other things that I turn to snacking on besides chocolate from time to time.. Would have to be a mix between either chips or popcorn. Sometimes I'd much rather prefer eating a bag of chips compared to eating popcorn. And then other times I'd much rather warm up some microwavable popcorn instead of allowing myself to eat chips. I don't know like I had stated above it all depends upon my mood.. I think we all get like this sometimes.. Where it all depends upon our mood when it comes to snacking in general.. In conclusion.. I find these three things to be the things I turn to the most when I am wanting a easy, yet convenient snack to have.. I find the fruit helps me to feel energized.. And that the other things that I had listed just help to stop a craving from occurring. I personally do not have children as of right now.. But I know that when me & my other half snack he usually snacks on the same things that I do.. Sometimes I will make a fruit platter to share with him instead of him filling himself with just junk food. I find if you make things such as these & it's in front of people.. That they will be more willing to eat healthier if you set a good example. Thanks for allowing me to share! xx

I'm fond of potato chips, especially when it's spicy!;) I find them more nutritious than other chips, I'm also with sandwiches and nuts. I give my 4 y/o niece sandwich and cookies, like oreos and chips ahoys. I think it would be much better for her to take on cookies than chips and candies!;)

banana with yogurt a great snack . . . sometimes oatmeal cookie dip into a glass of fresh milk or sometimes a pc of apple for a very healthy one. sometimes a banana peanut butter sandwich with orange juice is well enough.

I usually like salty things like chex mix, pringles, pistachios, cashews, then after that some dessert. And a whole lot of water. I wish I ate more fruits but they are more expensive sometimes.

Kettle chips but I also go for the sweet and salty combo like chocolate covered pretzles. Microwave popcorn is also a favorite at our house.

Most of the time when I'm getting a snack just for me its yogurt, fruit, or half a sandwich. Occasionally I eat some popcorn as well, or chips if we have them which isn't often. Most of the time my children eat fruit for snacks. It seems to help give them a snack yet leave them hungry for the next upcoming meal. They do have yogurt as a bedtime snack though as it holds better.

My son LOVES yogurt. That's usually what he gets for his dessert. If I ask him what he wants for a snack, he almost always says "Yoga anda picky!" or yogurt and a pickle. It's cute. And he really does eat them at the same time. Strange I know. :)

I am not a good example - I like to snack on everything! :) When I am being 'good' I will snack on: string cheese nuts fruit veggie sticks yogurt wheat thins My son isn't much of a snacker - he prefers to eat meals. He's old enough now that I allow him to choose what he snacks on. He isn't picky and will eat the healthy items just as much if not more than the non-healthy choices.

I snack all the time, rather than eat 'meals'. So, today I had a banana, then a cup of yogurt, then a cup of pistachios, then half a personal sized watermelon. Mostly I eat nuts, dried and fresh fruit, yogurt, salads, sunflower seed butter on whole wheat bread, avocado on a tortilla... stuff like that. I'll sometimes bake a half a squash and eat that as a snack. In the evening I usually have a treat... last night we made a big plate of nachos with black beans, cheese, blue corn tortilla chips, tomatos, avocado and peach salsa. We do eat a good bit of ice cream and chocolate in the evenings too, every once in awhile. Mostly though, I eat a vegetarian, healthy diet comprised mostly of 'snacks'. If we have cookies or brownies or something it's because I made them homemade, so that doesn't happen that much! I'm going to really try to watch it even more when my son is eating with us because I don't want him to inherit his father's potato chip addiction! A few is fine, but a whole bag???
