How to apply foundation?

I usually use a brush to apply my foundation because I find using my fingers will get the oils from my finger tips onto my face and sponges absorb too much of the foundation in them. Not too much product actually gets deposited on my face. When I first purchased my foundation brush I wasn't sure about using it because it would leave streaks if I wasn't too careful but it's become easier and easier for me to use a brush once I got the hang of it. I agree with some of the other posters that a good moisturizer will help when applying foundation. I use a primer as well to help the foundation glide onto my skin smoothly, too.

I have liquid foundation, so I can't use a brush, but I use either a sponge or my fingers, depending on if I ran out of sponges or not! Haha. It seems though that when I use the sponge, it gives me better coverage and I don't get it all over my hands. I'm really happy with it when I use the sponge!

Use soft soaps even for washing your hands as harsh detergents harm your skin.Even when you are washing dishes always wear gloves. And dont forget to put on a hand lotion evrytime you wash your hands.

I use a make-up sponge to apply my foundation, if wear one. I usually wear a tinted moisturizer which I also apply with a sponge. Rarely, I will use my finger to apply foundation or tinted-moisturizer. I also wear a powder, which I apply with a brush.

it depends on what makeup you are using.
two-way powder foundation- best applied with damp sponge
liquid foundation - you can use a sponge but it tends to absorb most of the product. you can first apply using foundation brush, run across your face. and blend with a damp sponge to remove traces of the brush-lines.
cream foundation - you can use either way. it depends on the consistency of the product

I use a brush all the time, but when I am lazy I use my fingers. I think the brush does a better job, though.

A lightly dampened sponge is best for liquid foundation or stick/pan foundation. If you are using powder foundation; such as bare minerals, then a densly bristled brush is best. A concealer brush or your fingertips are best for applying concealer or liquid foundation for extra coverage.
I hope this helps:)

If you don't see a difference maybe you are using too light of a color. Did you put a bronzer or veil over it to seal the look. I know with mineral if you don't cover with veil or something else it fade alot quicker. I used to use Bare Escentuals but it got so spendy. So I joined mineral girlz much more affordable with the same quality.

I always apply my foundation with my fingers as I find I can spread it out more evenly plus I find it lasts longer this way. I have tried a sponge in the past, but really had no luck with it. I to have heard make up artists use brushes to apply foundation, but I'm not sure that I could master the technique. I think I'd probably end up looking as though I had just painted my face, lol.

Well I usually apply my foundation with a brush, it seems to work best with the kind I use. I've tried a sponge but it didn't work as well as I thought, I coulnd't get the hang of it lol. After I'm done with the brush though I tend to rub it in with my fingers on the rough spots like under my eyes and stuff.

I am telling you ladies you need to check out mineral makeup. Wakeup cover up the dark circles, couple of rounds with some powder and bang you ready to go. It is so natural you can sleep in it. I love that one day you just don't feel like washing your face. So one night you only wear foundation, veil a little bronzer and you look healthier and younger. Couldn't live without it. Liquid felt like I was wearing a mask. Oh and don't even get me started when it is hot, talk about a mask. Sweat and liquid make a great paste they definately DO NOT MIX. Just my thoughts.

Sorry ladies I forgot to put where you could find some nicely priced minerals, and scents you can create with your own smell. Including lotions, bodyways or bodyspray. Too much fun

Make-up artists use brushes for health and economical reasons. Sponges spread germs and cake on too much too look normal. I use a creme to powder with my fingers. It goes just to the spots I want it and blends as well as I need it to. Plus I don't contaminate brushes or sponges and then put it on my face. But I don't know how well it'd work if you want an all-over coverage.

I sometimes use my fingers and sometimes use a sponge. It depends on the type of makeup I'm using as I change it all the time. I've never heard of using a brush. Would it not be very streaky?

When I use makeup I apply my foundation with a sponge. I get great coverage with it.

I have used all methods but prefer a brush - it is just so much easier to get good coverage that way. But remember to was and disinfect your brush once a week (and leave to air dry).

first wash your face, apply moisturiser if your skin is dry. After sometime apply the liquid foundation with dapm spnoge. Don't forget to apply compact powder over it.
