Procrastinatation

Do you ever find yourself constantly procrastinating things you know just have to get done, but you can bring yourself around to actually do it until it is the last possible minute?
Even though I have been attempting to work on this Change Your Life Challenge, I have found myself stalled because I picked up extra days at work. It isn't like it is major overhauling in my life with this program, but I look at it and feel like I can't be bothered.
At least when it comes to my homework assignments and house chores, I have been able to conquer that aspect of procrastination. I used to wait until the last minute to do homework, and housework would just be left undone unless it was dishes or sweeping the floor. It got pretty bad around here because I am usually the only one who scrub cleans around here.
Now, if I only had a magic wand to wave instead of my throwing myself into the work!

Can you tell me more about this Change Your Life Challenge in 70 days? I can be a terrible procrastinator, especially when it comes to housework, yardwork, and even at times my writing. I also want one of those magic wands, if you find one. LOL

That is really cool. Wish I could do that in my house, lol. Does it help with procrastination on other projects as well? How much was the book, just out of curiousity. BTW, thanks for the information.

If I find that magic wand, I will let everyone know where to get one!! LOL
CYLC is a book that is based around 70 days, or 70 steps as the author puts it, where you do things around your house and life to help you organize it to make priorities matter and not allow them to sit on the back burner.
I have stalled on Day #22 because I had started picking up more working days. Being a SAHM of two years, it got kind of overwhelming because I am not used to being the working mom again.
It is a really good book! In the matter of one day, and I kid you not when I share this moment in life!, I had decluttered my house. There is a system in there that is a life saver and helps you organizer your stuff in a way that isn't too overwhelming. If you are a pack rat, like I can be, it was great because it broke it down in steps where it was easy for me to let go of things I definitely didn't need or would need in the near future.
My best friend came the day after I cleared out my house and she saw three boxes that were being given away and like six boxes going down to the garage. It was a nice feeling!

The worst part about your cylc for me is that everytime you do a step I want to come over and help you "remove" those things from your life you know like the stereo you got rid of...lol. When your done I am going to be a good best friend and let you come change my life for me, hahaha

Its all about the lazy nature of human kind, to do something no money pay or values. the doers will not have much motive to get the thing done!
Let see if you are working in office, will you going to be lazy around and not get the job done quick? XDDDDD, No one want to be fired.
But for doing assignments, except it is the last/final project, most assignments will be done at the last minute.

We procrastinate things we don't like. It is very human nature to gain pleasure and avoid pain. So, we always have time for what we like to do and postpon thing we don't like to do.

I very much agree with youu. I find myself always putting little things i dont like doing. For example i hate house chores so i leave them last minute, i would like to loose weight and get into to shape but i admit im lazy and im not into working out. Instead i watch tv, go to the mall, go on the internet, hangout with friends, ect when i should be doing laundrey, dishes, exercise, instead i let the dishes pile up i wait til i have nothing to wear and i complain about my weight and yet do nothing about it until last mintue. ill work out when i have a wedding to attend and those things but i wait like a month before and expect results but like you said i procrastinate the things that i dont like to do.

Yah i procrastinate alot. Especially when it comes to housework. what i do is start out small cleaning...and then before i know it im done. i tend to focus on smaller tasks...instead of me doing the dishes...i do the silverware...i break it apart!

I'm addicted... I am going to try and do better.. I'm good with housework and things.. its the other stuff that doesn't have a specific time it needs to be done but should be done... :)

I have found for me it's better to make a list of what I need to get done for the next day. I add to the list as the day goes on. If you put it on paper, you make a commitment to yourself. What you do not finish for that day goes to the next day. If you find yourself writing it on the list for 3 or more days, you need to get more motivated or decide you really don't want to get it done and assign it to someone else!

i am the biggest procrastinator in the world! its a very bad habit, but i just cant seem to break it. im in grad school right now so i cant afford to procrastinate so much, but i cant help it. that's why im so far behind in my readings right now. i usually catch up at the end of the term, but i dont want to have to do that. i wish i could just get focused and motivated to do my readings every single day as they're assigned!

I am one of those people who seem to work better underpressure. I don't know if it has always beent hat way or if it is a learned thing because I do love to procrastinate. I think that when I procrastinate and I am down to the wire to get something done, then my mind is totally focused on that particlular task, and it just seems easier to me.
I know it drives people crazy that I procrastinate but none of them can complain about the results. I think that is why I haven't really ever tried to stop. Priocrastination just lights a fire under me and focuses me, and I do my best work, no matter what the task is.

Yes, I find this a terrible habit of mine. I procrastinate habitually. I intentionally put off doing something that can be done quite easily and wait till the last minute. Being "quite easily" is the main reason why I find myself proscrastinating. I often tell myself and others, it's alright, no problem, I will do that. This is something I must learn to overcome.

You have to figure out if you are driven by pain or pleasure. Some people, like myself are driven by pain. When the situation becomes painful enough, I get it done. I would prefer being driven by pleasure and say "Good, now that's done and I feel good about it."

I get so far behind its not funny. I just bought new home office furniture in my room and assembled it and have boxes of office stuff from the old to put away in them. 2 days later they are still sitting there untouched. Only the computer is plugged in (priorities - LOL). So today I have to get it together and reduce this mess (I hope).

It is really amazing how much we can procrastinate when there is something we just don't seem to be into doing. :)
I once had a phone call to make while my boss was on vacation and I only made it 15 minutes before he was due back in the office.
I find that I am a lazy guy but I work very hard. I am lazy but rather than put things off I will force myself to get the job done, unless it is a cold call to anyone. :)

Procratination is my middle name. I dont think that I procrastinate on certain things becauae I dont want to do them but I dont want to sit around waiting for others involved to do it. For example I put off going to the doctors until the last minute because my insurance only allows us to go to one place for regular care which also serves as an urgent care, sssooo if I have a migrane that I cant control I am forced to sit in the waiting room with an average of 20 other patients for about 4 hours. So yes in that case I do procrastinate.

sadly, i'm the queen of procrastination,
especially when it comes to projects or assignments,
i never start them until the very last moment.
But fortunately, i do things good when i'm doing them quickly and at the last moment, and things do get done anyway, so i guess it's not that bad.
