I have just started a new way of eating, it's really not a diet, but in one week I lost 4 pounds and it is a whole lot for me since I have not budged with anything else. I would exercise and eat small meal, but with this new way of eating I am never hungry and it has sped up my metabolism. The name of the book is "Eating for Life" By Bill Phillips. He also wrote the book "Body for Life" The book has 150 recipes for the whole day. He has a web site that is www.eatingforlife.com Have you started plan to loose weight and if so how are you doing?

Thanks for the suggestion. I am dieting by eating one meal perday in the middle of the day, and no late night eating, just that one meal. Drinking water instead of soda, and increasing exercise.

i also prefer water or tea to go with my meals, but aren't you a bit neglecting yourself by eating just one meal a day? i've read that eating a hearty breakfast could even speed up one's metabolism, helping him/her to lose weight a lot faster. i believe that it's not the amount of food that you put in your body that will make or not make you fat. i guess it's the right kind of food that really matters. what do you think?

Hoping that you can continue with this eating. Probably more of the foods he recognizes and approves of I suppose. I am glad it working for you. I will check the site out soon. Have not heard of this man. I have cut out most bread and most pop and it is working. My hubby said that I looked better. Keeps me encouraged although it has been pretty easy. Also added salads in the afternoon when I would snack most of the time. That has helped too. Good thing I really enjoy salads. Good luck and I hope you reach the goal you have set.

BFL is a great diet. It is something that everyone can do forever. I really want to pick the BodyForLife book up but I keep putting it off.

Eating smaller meals more often during the day is a good idea. It helps boost your metabolism throughout the day instead of starving your body. I'm now hearing reports that exercising doesn't add much to weight loss, only watching calories is enough to shed pounds.

Well, the titile of your discussion and the first sentence got my attention! I am going on holiday next month and wouldn't mind dropping a few pounds before I go. Is this the same person who wrote Fit for Life? I read that bopok many years ago and thought it made so much sense!

I've heard of that. i signed up with ediets.com which lets you choose the diet you want to be on, and then you can change any time you want. you fill out a profile and it recommends which diets would work best for what you want. I love it. almost lost 10 lbs in 2 weeks! GOOD LUCK!

I'm not dieting as such but I have decided to change my eating habits purely because I was eating too much chocolate and sweet stuff. I found that it was becoming a habit and I kept craving sweets on an evening. I also found that my clothes were starting to get a teeny bit too tight so I thought it was time to do something about it. Instead of dieting I decided not to allow myself any sweet stuff during the week and to help me to take my mind off my cravings I decided to do some exercise every night. I've only been doing this for a week but so far it seems to be working really well. My sweet cravings have gone and the exercise is helping me feel much healthier. I haven't got any scales so i've no idea about weight loss, but I definately feel less flabby.

I have never heard of this book, but it sounds like a sensible way to lose weight. I visited the website, and it looks like something that might work well for you. When I lost the greatest amount of weight, I did it by cutting out almost all of the pop and drinking more water instead. I didn't eliminate any of my favorite foods from my diet because it only left me wanting them more, so I allowed myself to eat anything I wanted in limited amounts. I also kept a food diary and tried to keep track of everything that went into my mouth. Last but not least, you have to give your body the exercise it needs to burn those calories. I hope that you are still doing well at your weight loss plan.
