for me personally, its ok to have tatoo but since its a lifetime mark to your body i think you should better think first what will be its meaning for you and if you really really like it.
once you knew that if you will going to have a tatoo and you think its very sentimental to you and have a lot of meaning then the process of putting it to your body wont be that painful since there is the dedication.

I have a couple. It doesn't hurt that bad, but it really depends on your pain tolerance, and the location of the tattoo. Some areas will hurt more so then other areas.
If you do get one, get one that you can show off if you want to, but can also be easily covered up if you need to. This is my opinion here, but I personally think a woman all dressed up nice and fancy, then you see this tattoo on her ankle of Tweety, just looks tacky. Also, some places will discriminate against you if you have a visible tattoo. Some people still frown on it. I remember about 10 years ago, interviewing for this job, wouldn't be dealing with many customers at all. Pretty casual, and he hired me, and said I'd need to make sure my tattoo was covered. I have a Pegasus on my chest, and part of the wing sometimes peeks through. I said, oh but it's ok for your service guy out there to have his tattoos on his arms showing? He instantly shut up lol.
About what to get, think about what you like. Try to be unique, and don't go with the standard tattoos they have on the board. Most of those guys can draw really good, and if you give them an idea they can usually do it. A good artist would rather have something unique to do and to show off their work. Look around online, there's lots of sites. Find something, then add your own spin to it.
Good luck!!!
