Why are Lushies so loyal?

It seems like a lot of us are very loyal to Lush. I know for me, personally, I didn't really care one way or another what bath stuff I bought until I became infatuated with Lush products.
So why is it that we love Lush so much and are such loyal customers?
I think that my infatuation with Lush might have ended had I not fallen in love with their skin and hair care.
Any thoughts on this, whether from personal experience or your interpretation of forumites as a whole?

I rediscovered Lush last year (after an extended break) when I got an email talking about the discon round voting. I was so excited because many of my favorite products had been disconned over the years.. and here was a chance to get one of them remade. I quickly signed up for the forum and quickly got hooked on visiting the forum. I loved reading all the product reviews...the rants and raves. It was the forum that really reignited my interest in Lush. I love the sense of community there.
I think that people are loyal to Lush because they offer good quality products (a few off products aside) and because of their ethics. The fact that they even have a forum makes me think that they really care about their customers. What other company would hold a discon round or make a product like Honeywood just because the forumites kept bugging them to make it? The whole price increase thing/ the way it was handled was disappointing though. I am hoping that they find some way to make it up to us though (like maybe having the perfume round soon!) :)

I agree with you about the forum. I probably would have let Lush by the wayside had I not joined the forum. I think the forum & its members kept me going too.

I think for most lushies, it's a combination of 1.) unique scents/fragrances, 2.) types of products that are just done the best by Lush (i.e. bath bombs, bubble bars, AOBS and Herbalism and other skincare products), and 3.) mostly natural & organic. Prices notwithstanding, I know I could never fully pull myself away from Lush due to these top three reasons (of mine).

What she said! I stick with them because not only do some of their products work better for my skin than any others I've tried, but their scents far surpass any that I have found elsewhere.

When I discovered the skincare line, and how well it worked, I honestly don't think I could ever go back to Oil of Olay (what I was using before.)
If only Afterlife came with SPF...

I have always loved Lush products, there's something about that wide range of products (which are constantly being added to!), that always manages to keep bringing me back for more!
I think the reason so many people are infatuated with Lush is the fact that you can always find something in their stores that you haven't used before -- it's like a treasure trove of bath products!!

I guess I am loyal because my hair and face have never looked so good since I started using these products in June. My skin has never been so soft. I have store within walking distance from my office and I worked there during the holiday, so I feel like I'm helping my friends (the SAs) by shopping there.
It must be the skin and hair care, since the whole price increase, Management freak-out debacle, I have been thinking I can live without my bathstuff, but not my hair and face stuff.
I'm hopelessly addicted to the prducts, though, and I love my Lush baths. I'm becoming less addicted to the forum lately, though.

I became loyal because LUSH was the first company that was actaully able to deliver a product that helped with my acne. I tried prescription meds that dried me out and turned me red. Then I tried Proactiv which worked for about a week. Then I kinda gace up and just settled for having fewer breakouts thanks to the Body Shop's tea tree line. Then I discovered Fresh Farmacy. Honestl, nothing has ever worked so well and I'm hooked. While I'll admit that not every product is great, some of them are just so effective, it's hard not to try all their things looking for the next miracle product.

I enjoy lush stuff because it is (or WAS) really unique products... who else has solid shampoos,conditioners, and biofresh? The haircare products are AWESOME and have made my hair great... the scents (American Cream and Jungle) are much more unique than the generic Bath and Body Works Stuff. The quality of the product is still better than the commercial giants... and i enjoy the happy hippy vibe that Lush tries to embody... even though i've been a little disgruntled with the price increases, lack of new scents/products and quality decrease lately, this post helped me realize why I still use Lush products...

I am loyal because they have great products. They regularly update the products and come up with new stuff. They have forums. They use all natural products. They give away free full size products. They offer samples. They have parties. Even with the price increase - I will still buy. All companies raise prices with the increased cost of living. I complain about buying gas - but I still have to buy it. I haven't found another company who's skincare and soaps work better for me.

I'll always be loyal to Lush for certain things- the skincare and haircare work better for me than anything else I've ever tried! My addiction started with a seasonal xmas job with them, where I learned about all the products and had a blast, the staff were great! For bath products I'll likely start going somewhere cheaper, but Lush's ethics and no-animal testing policies and environmental efforts are also important to me.

I love their products because they don't irritate my skin while making me smell great at the same time. I also like that their products are cruelty free.

I can honestly say that no other Co's products (atleast those I've used) make as much as a noticable differance as Lush products do. I particularly love thier lip balms. Also like thier general philosophy.

I don't know that I am that loyal. I really like Aquamarina and Imperialis, but I think I could find another face care routine that works just as well. My face has really cleared up since I've started taking BC. I like AC, but my hair has started going really limp on me, even with the use of Big. The price hike really ticked me off, so I think I'm going to be looking for substitutes. It will be hard to find duplicate smells though. That is one thing Lush does very well. When they nail a unique smell, they really nail it!

There are so many reasons why I got turned on to Lush:
* They are so much more environmentally friendly.
* They have vegan products.
* They have such a large range.
* The haircare has made my hair amazing!
* The skincare has made my skin taughter..
* The SA's are wonderful.
* The shop smells amazing
* There are so many things to try...
I could go on, but I'd be here all night ;)

LUSH is a nice way to reward yourself. I also really like the smell of their products, too.

Ok, you guys got me interested. I've never heard of the products. Is it really that good? I think I'll check them out if you guys say they are as good as that. Thanks.

Yes, I think it really is that good. Like I mentioned in the OP, I was never really that into bath products until I found Lush.

They don't test on animals (and I can honestly trust them on that unlike some stores), their products smell real and not fake and I just love what Lush has done for my hair. It has helped certain aspects of my skin, but it seems to have made my spots a bit worse for some reason. I mostly adore all the bath products.

To be perfectly honest, I'm not totally in love with lush anymore. Some of their products I ADORE. While others, most actually, I can live without. Lush really just opened my eyes to a better quality of bath products. Now I am discovering high quality e-tailers and getting far more out of my baths then I ever thought possible. I will never forget lush did this for me, and that is why I will still buy things from them despite the climbing prices. Some things lush just does best (flying fox for instance).

"Lush really opened my eyes to a better quality of bath products"
I could not agree with this more! Before I would buy whatever was cheap and smelled nice, now I know just how delectably indulgent a bath can feel. And thanks to the lush forums, I've found so many other awesome etailers to try out (Lush may be losing business that way though, I just fell in love with everything in my Skindazzles order, but I love lush for introducing me to better quality products)!

For myself, it's because of the Quality of the product. After two years working in a Lush store, the only non-Lush products I use are my toothpaste, mouthwash and styling product. Even my make-up is Lush (BNever, techniqually).
I would much rather invest money in good skincare that works, paying for quality vs the name, rather than shelling out hundreds of dollars in make-up that will only worsen my skin.
As for my Absolute Favorites, I Can't Live Without: Aquamarina, Breath of Fresh Air, Almond Kisses (night) and Gorgeous (day).
