I've never been a real collector of anything. I collected a few beanie babies, I collected ton's of matchbooks (Now isn't that silly, what can you do with matchbooks). I will tell you that you can't move them in a moving van. he movers wouldn't even take them unless I pulled all the matches out of them first. I had over 4000 at the time, SO I just dumped them.
But what do you collect and how many do you have?

I like to collect postcards...that is something that I have been doing for a long time. Usually, it is of the place that I have been to, but also, I do get some from the places that I want to go and see. Also, my friends and family get me postcards from the place they have been. I do have some of special things and sites also. I have tons and tons of them, and they are all in a box. There are a few other things that I collect also. Like some coins and some Tinkerbell stuff, but mainly, it is postcards.

I skipped this discussion when I first saw it the other day because I couldn't think of anything I actually collect. But, when I saw it again today, I realized, I tend to collect a couple of things. I like to read Star Trek books, so I have a huge collection of Star Trek books, the original, Star Trek the Next Generation, Star Trek Voyager, and some of Deep Space Nine. I tend to collect Bibles. I like different versions to read from, so from time to time I'll buy another one. I have about 5 or 6 I'm reading from right now, plus a huge, heavy table-top version with 4 translations inside. I'm a wedding cake decorator, so I do have a collection of cake decorating techniques books plus a collection of wedding cake books. So...I guess these count. LOL. I also collect cd's of Joyce Meyers teachings. So, I guess I do collect some things. Interesting to realize that.

I once collected matchbooks. I switched to pens after my exhusband used all the matches and tossed them away. The pens started dissappearing too. Now I collect anything that has a butterfly design on it. But, I am running out of space to display my treasures.

It's a good thing he's not into Butterfly's huh? I think that would be very intersting to have a collection of all the beautiful Butterfly's that are out there. THe Monarch's are so pretty. I think the irridesence in the wings is Mother Nature at her best!

OH I am so sorry about your losing some of your Longaberger items. They are very costly. But I LOVE BOYD's Bears, I have about 25 of them and I just adore them. I really didn't have many stuffed animals as a child so now I can have as many as I want :) They are all in my guest bed and I so enjoy them, I collect a lot of the patriotic ones or the Americana bears.
Thanks for participating. good luck on your collecting.

I am a barbie doll fanatic. My mom started this years ago and now we both collect. I hope there are some grand daughters to pass them on to when they are older. "Musnt take them out of the precious boxes!!!" I really want to open a couple of them and play with them.
It was torture for me as a child to see all these barbies and not be able to play with them. Maybe I will open juuuuust one ok please, aw come on, just one,, just a peek, let me just touch her hair. PLLLLEEEEAAASE!

baseball cards, or post cards ? I know of people that collect both. My son-in-law has closets full of old baseball cards that he has had since he was very young.
I used to collect sweatshirts from all over the world but can you imagine the drawer space or closet space you need? LOL that one I had to give up or store sweatshirts all over the house. LOL

I have always wanted stuffs that glow in the dark. I have a lot of them sticking at my wall and in my ceiling. I have also some toys that glow in the dark and my phone protector is also a glow-in-the-dark stuff. Besides those things I also have some toys that basically lights. I don't what's with me or with the lights but I like looking at them when it's dark maybe because there's a part of me saying that I am associated with lights. Anyways, in the future I'd like to collect miniature toy cars. I plan to start my collection when I got my first job. Every pay day I will buy a miniature toy car until my collection goes bigger.

I used to collect angels. Everyone would buy me angels for Christmas and my birthday. I would purchase them at yard sales adn estate sales. I had some really nice ones. One summer I had to have surgery and we did not have the money to pay the medical bills and the insurance only paid so much of it so I sold all my angels. Now I dont collect anything.

My collections have changed throughout the years. Currently I collect dolphin items. I love dolphins. I have since I was a child. I am not sure how many things I have with dolphins on it but it's more than enough to drive my boyfriend crazy. He even told me at one point that the whole apartment shouldn't look like we were under water. I had to laugh because sure enough I had dolphins EVERY where. I have condensed them down into my room now. :)

The Sketches sounds interesting. On Newspaper? WOW that would be interesting.
I've never thought of getting into the coins. Maybe I should we have a huge pretzel jar that is full of change and we can't lift it anymore? LOL

My passion is Japanese cartoons, more generally known as anime. I had occassion to live in Japan some 7 years ago and I love that country like a second home. I was exposed to Japanese culture in different ways, and one aspect of their culture that has started to gain popularity worldwide, and which I love, is anime. I collect my anime from various sources from the web, and I currently have over 20 anime titles, roughly 150 GB total. Some series have over 50 episodes in length, and the one I'm currently collecting already has 115 episodes and still counting! They're not just kiddie stuff, which some people scoff at when mentioning cartoons. The subjects are diverse, touching on war and peace, personal sacrifice, personal triumphs, magic, supernatural, horror, sports, action, you name it. Japanese animation is art that can be appreciated by experience, so if you'd like to try watching them, I can give you some titles to start you off. :)

I didn't intend for this to happen, but it looks like I've been collecting cookbooks. I have about 30 on my kitchen shelf, and a big rubbermaid tub filled with the buggers in the basement. (I haven't unpacked them since our move.) Most are collection of recipes, you know, like church cookbooks, or other fund raiser type books. Ihave a couple cookbooks older than me, and it's so much fun perusing through those. The most used one, is the Better Homes and Gardens book dated 1947. :)
